You have got the colours really well, to give a nice warm feeling to this painting. I like the play with light too.

Nice tonal study Pat! You would do well to darken nearer to the fire so as to make the stove seem more aglow. It reads well enough, but since you have been focused on luminosity in your paintings, this would be how in this case.

Since you're getting this good, you might also want to be attending to details especially around the head and hands. You're at about 80%. Ratchet it up to around 90 and see how that feels. Take a little more care with articulating the hands. Doesn't mean you have to do it like a medical illustration. Just some finesse around the thumb would serve you I think.

The overall has a really nice feel to it. I like the warmth of it. Feels sort of biblical owing to the desert palette, even though she's blond. Very warm feeling.

DAkey, thanks again for the great advice that I will put this to use and do my best to improve, always have trouble with hands and nose lol, so will practise
