Dear Pat, I enjoyed this painting very much and was glad to see that we had a quite similar idea or composition, apart from some fun and oddness I couldn't refrain from inserting too ...:o

Very strong image Pat! Could also be Aztec, though I am no expert on that part of the world and the history therein. So much of it was obliterated, they might have ended their calendar there and then upon the Conquest of the Americas rather than wait till this year.

Like the very funny Douglas Adams wrote in Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy, where the setting is in a pub minutes before the Earth is to be destroyed by an intergalactic wrecking crew, unbeknownst to the Earthlings. . . And the barman says the one of our heroes who happens to be an alien named Ford, who is aware of the coming end of the planet (paraphrasing), "Are you sure about the world coming to an end?" Ford answers, "Quite sure." To which the barman calls to everyone in the tavern, "Right, last call for drinks. . . "

This whole Mayan thing sort of reminds me of that in a way. :D

So paint up!
