View Full Version : First Finished ArtRage pic

Hi Everyone, I've been having lots of fun experimenting with Artrage & thought I would share my first finished pic. I used a ripple stencil from a pic in the forums by RobertSWade to enhance the water but apart from that it's my own work. The reference photo was by Jean Williamson from the book of postcards entitled Sacred Stones.
Please feel free to comment as I am just starting out in digital art, my usual medium being Encaustic wax.

Welcome. You made a wonderful work on this. Aerial perspective and perfect water emulation on a tonally modulatd monochrome ...

Thanks Caesar, glad you like it. After a few comments in other forums I have reworked the piece slightly to give less symmetry to the position of the stones. I hope this improves it.

Looks great

It's better for sure. A central simmetry is almost never the best choice for a composition, as they use to teach ... balancing is a little different.

Very nicely done. I like this a lot. You might try darkening the water just a little bit. I could be wrong, but I think you might like it that way. Regardless - well done. :):):)

Encaustic? Really? Very artsy. . . I always wanted to try that but never did. Jasper Johns was using it for a time wasn't he?

Anyway, this is a terrific first go. Really nice tone. Graphic in feeling. Simplified and soothing.

I kinda have a feeling it won't be too long until you start to work with some of the more visceral materials as well, seeing as you are a Karate Kid "Wax On, Wax Off" encaustic enthusiast.

Great starting off point. Welcome!
