You know how it is: Where do we go?
This one is from the forgotten pile that was meant to be taken farther but I kinda like it the way it is.

Neal, i do love this ..... one can feel the anxiety and anticipation in the air..which is friendly and clean.....love the free strokes, almost in one touch is said so much... colors are basic but expressive.... Gorgeous!!!!:)

I very much like it the way it is. I remember the first day of High School was like this, even though this looks like a younger school group owing to that looking like a parent on the right. . . and maybe center as well.

But for me the memory I have brought to mind from this is the size relationships. Different ages at a point of sprouting meant there were vast differences in size of the students -- those still childlike and those who could shave.

Everything in that milieu was still fragmented before knowing what was what and who was who and where anything was. This fits my mind's eye view of it.

Nice piece. I must say I'm very much liking the poses. Very human. And the sort of impressionistic approach feels somewhat like an impressionist took and set up an easel and looked waaaayyyy back.

Got the impression right even though details have fallen away without more concentration. Wouldn't really be impressionism then. Also impressionism is about light and this feels strongly set into and around the lighting.

Neal, you have all the uncertainty, stress and wonder in your painting :)

I agree! It's Ok and delightful this way, fresh and spontaneous and quite original in its style.

I can relate to this my parents moved often. I went to 27 grade schools, 17 Jr High Schools and 11 High schools. I was very often the new kid.
