It does indeed look like a dig going on Gary. I wonder what is so far down below and how many years ago that it was there. Great work!

SO original and pleasant to look at, one likes to explore in those wonderful colors and shapes something what is going on somewhere in the depth of one pleasant and mystery loving soul. Beautiful Gary.:)

Hi Gary,is this four paintings in one?Islands of paint. I like how the frame is also the painting.:):):)What was your inspiration for this painting?

02-02-2012, 11:38 AM
Anna.. such a gracious comment on this work.. thank you very much.:):)

SCP..well believe it or not that Italian Cruise ship that ran aground.. I remember seeing that huge chunk of rock stuck in the side of the ship.. so i created cruise ships of art sailing on the red brown and it you look there is a kind of horizon line and a ligher red brown for a " sky" the wrappering of the frame is something I have been experimenting with in other works. So that was the source... who woulda thunk??:p;);):)

looks whimsical to me rather than tragic in any way. great colors and textures and like what you do with the frames as well.

So you've been influenced by screenpainter. . . or at least you're painting a screen.

Oh dear oh dear. I think I found Nemo. I like the isolating of these bursts of artistic activity served up like tasty little sushi of exotic brightly colored tropical fish. And I mean that in the most appetizing way. I love sushi. . . and tropical fish. . . :D Could be any of the more exotically presented bits of food from a tasting menu -- all these different tastes and textures brought together in a layered morsel.

It's a little like you have put up three paint daubs, each holding a microcosm of many paint marks. . . I guess in a fractal sort of way.

I do like the paintings where you have it broken up like this rather than the more active overall canvases. I suppose it's part of the human mental sorting process that goes into seeing something new. It's more bite size this way. (Geez. I must be hungry. . . hahaha).

Nice image.
