I couldn't get the background right, it looked false whatever I did so ended up doing it plain.

A video speed painting of the painting.

Your patience far outweighs mine. Your technique reminds me of pointilism, but with hairs! :D

Very realistic likeness - well done.

I admired your great fur technique, and I do that also for this drawing ... Done very realistic. Beautiful.
(The background fits very well with the Vole.)

Sorry to hear that you must talk to the computer. I hope you can continue drawing for a very long time, and that we may enjoy them to.

Thank you all for your much appreciated comments.

Teriodin, I had to look up pointilism I haven't heard that saying before, it is a similar technique like you said but with hairs.:D

Thank you JMMK, I am glad you think the background looks okay. I can manage the fine detail work but find it difficult to get my imagination going for the important accessories.:( I did try painting small stones and moss but couldn't get them to look natural.

Thank you so much Caesar for your kind comment, the bank vole is only 3.9" in length I think that includes the Tail, I am not sure. This one kept coming out next to it's burrow under the conifers so I didn't have to wait long to get the photo. The background was a small a concrete wall which didn't look nice.

Yet another truly outstanding work, Christine. Your use of the ink pen is amazing.

Thank you Tony, I have one more photo left of a Hare and that's it, no more furry animals unless I get some more photos. I don't like using stock images I feel like I am cheating when I am not using my own work.

Christine.... another beautiful and delicate work ... a mastery of fur and animals... it sounds like you tried several backgrounds but i think for this type of work the simpler is better it looks like camera bokeh... and works wonderfully with this... :):)
