This was a visitor to my garden a couple of years ago, unfortunately we found it dead 3 days later. http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6115/6347682955_08d030a536_z.jpg

Thank you gxpainter, the wiskers were the hardest i couldn't get a good curve in one stroke with out it being wobbly. I have had a totally uninterrupted day today, on my own so have been able to start and finish this all in one go.:D

Christine, this is a most beautiful painting of one of the oldest inhabitants of the British Isles. And also one that I adore!

I, too, have red foxes that visit my garden and feel very privileged to have them.....might feel differently if I kept chickens though!!

Great painting.

Thank you so much Tony, it was so sad to find the dead fox at the bottom of the garden. This one unfortunately must have had some disease or it had been hit by a car, it's rear legs and back were not a very pretty sight, it was limping badly and yet in it's face and eyes it looked healthy. We also get badgers but unfortunately the light is to low when they come scavenging to get photo's

Aaahh Christine, the Badger! ...........another one of our misaligned species. Unfortunately I do not have them in my garden, or any where near for that matter, which is very sad.

How's about we offer up a couple of Badger paintings to this group?

Best wishes,
Tony

Why not, I have a very poor pic of a badger but that's all I need.

Beautiful! Did you learn how to do the fur from any tutorial out there? I am going to be working on an art quilt (drafting in artrage) and some animals will be staring - deer, rabbits, maybe a horse/cow...any help is appreciated!

Thank you skylar, Geoff for you're much appreciated comments.

Kstodola, no tuturial just plenty of practice. The only tools I used were the pen tool on the smallest size 1 and set the taper length to long. I also used the palette knife to blend some of the areas around the eyes. I picked the colours from the reference image.

Caesar, strange you can't view my pictures it may have something to do with the way the iPad uploads.

This is one of my favorite animals, and you have captured him brilliantly. I want to hug his soft fur, and his eyes are so full of intelligence and spirit. Perfection! :)

so beautiful. just amazing detail. love everything about it. the colors and detail of your work is just so spot on. You have a masterful technique for doing fur. None better that I know of. As you can see, I have missed a few of your amazing artworks... so I am catching up. :)
