I agree with Vladislav. It is great to see how you take the time to make them excellent and how you add finishing touches. The sketches are really good as well as the cartoon styled pieces. The more complex compositions are just excellent. Good drawing. Good work.

Thank you all for your comments and advice. These where all done in the last couple of weeks. I was exploring the tools in Artrage. I'm working on a coloring book assignment right now so the pen tool with smooth turned on has been a life saver.

Thank you guys for all the comments.
I only had time for a quick study tonight. Using the oil brushes. I never painted with real oil paints before so not quite sure how to start with these. Really not anything like how brushes work in Photoshop. Still fun to push around the pixels with.

I think, it's actually pretty much overdone. Having a bit look of corncob or something. But still a nice piece of work though.

lOL....you're of course right it is a bit over the top( I'm a cartoonist by trade so when I try to break out of the realm of just solid lines and flat colors I tend to have problems. My biggest weakness is really in getting that feeling of mass and in color.) Does anyone know an in depth tutorial for using the oil brushes in Artrage? I'd love to see someones process I was having a hard time wrapping my brain around the brushes. (Having do with my lack of ever using the traditional media no doubt) Oh, and feel welcome to comment honestly on my stuff. I have no problem with "nice try but you could have done this to make it better" Thanks guys.

Really good effect. Looks like carved marble. A fine study of human musculature. At least I think it''s human? It never has been what my body looks like in any part of my long life. :)

Caesar

Another wonderful addition with this torso where the body builder seems to have grown his "turtle" belly muscles at the expense of other ones ... :D
Your style is really delightful!

What a nice thread, so interesting to see your different paintings and sketches in the same thread! If you have never painted with real oil colour I think you have done very well with the torso:)

Thank you all very much. Here's one I finished up tonight. The Rocker drawn again and re-painted. The hands are all messed up I was trying to do a block type cartoon hand and it really came out like crap. But the rest came out OK.

Strandy
12-26-2011, 12:01 AM
His hands do not need to follow any ideal hand or nature, if they follow the concept of the painting itself. In my opinion they do it for sure. They are readable part of the figure and match the style of your choice. Cartoon is more about what his music is than about his hands or something. ...And the music, which this drawing 'plays' is comic and nice at once.
