The following package is in response to recent requests for sumi e brushes and effects in artrage. here is my collection.
it contains:
3 palette knives for blending
2 ink pen settings for sumi
1 oil sumi brush
4 watercolor brushes
2 gloop brushes

http://www.mediafire.com/?qgq5z7d671lsuld

please keep in mind that they were designed for use with a graphic tablet
so the thick and thin of the strokes in brushes like al zebra. a sumi brush,
gloop sumi e and pollock line are particularly sensitive to pressure for their variance in
line thickness and effect.
they also work best on a somewhat rough canvas texture. try using Juz's drawing papers for example or maybe a watercolor paper that has a bit of tooth.

enjoy.

Albert

These are nice brushes but it highlights how useful it would be to be able to put all of these brushes into one 'mixed' brush set.

glad you liked them. I see what you are saying, but kind of hard to do when different tools have different properties. a palette knife would probably still not be expected to perform like a brush.
I like the way artrage has different tools.

if it helps a little to find them after the install: the first 3 are palette knives left to right. and then continue as listed.

What I meant was that Artrage doesn't allow you to mix presets of different tool types. It would be nice if you could select all of your nice presets from a single 'Sumi' set of tools.

I agree it would be nice to keep the package together somehow and not search for the presets.

glad you liked them Peter. Forgot to mention they work best on a paper with a bit of tooth like watercolor paper or,(as shown,) Juz's drawing papers. Until someone gives us some presets for Japanese hand made paper. :)

:D;):p:o:rolleyes::eek::cool: Thank you so much!!!!!

These brushes are amazing! I love ArtRage so much, but having the ability to add outstanding brushes and palette knives like these, are what makes it stand out from the pack!

I love the Gloop pens! And using the palette knives are so much fun. Thanks again, and I can't wait to see what new brushes you come up with!!

Wanted to push the Sumi artpack up to the top so others who haven't seen this can download.

I use the knife settings especially the pastel blunt now because it and the others you created allow me to blend almost any other tool's paint.

Absolutely love what you've done here.

Wow.
I downloaded and installed the sumi arpack some time ago but only fiddled with one, liked it a lot, but went back to my habitual painting style. The palette knives went right over my head somehow. :o

This morning I began using all the tools in the pack together and am in looove. :D I plan to spend lots of time with new sweetheart.

Every time one of you creative people does this magic with a new set of tools, it's like getting a whole new ArtRage! It's astounding! I have not given props to the many, many members who have done this. My bad. You are all awesome!

The sumi set is close to my heart because of my background -- spent years learning to write Chinese characters (and speaking Mandarin) and studying Chinese culture at UCSD for undergraduate degree. I worked on calligraphy with a traditional brush and ink stick...never "graduated" to sumi, but the strokes are indelible in my being from all that practice.

Thank you , thank you!!!

Thanks for making these palette knives. They do provide better blending options than what AR provides natively. I haven't tried the other brushes in here yet, so I can't say anything on those at this point, but the additional palette knives are nice to have. Thanks for the offering. :)

Bumping this thread to the top again for Inktober ;)

What I meant was that Artrage doesn't allow you to mix presets of different tool types. It would be nice if you could select all of your nice presets from a single 'Sumi' set of tools.

Also, I've created a custom Toolbox to go with the original download to solve this problem.

Download it from Dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/s/mht79l3ar5nqw1d/Screenpainter%20SumiE%20Ink%20Brushes.artbx?dl=0

Open your Toolbox in AR4 by going to View > Toolbox Panel, then load the downloaded file (you can also easily create your own of course ^_^ - just go through the presets, right click, and choose 'Add to Toolbox').

Read up on Toolboxes here: https://ambient-design.tumblr.com/post/150654606697/just-what-is-the-toolbox-i-found-the-option-for
