Hot damn....that's cool... I love WWII airplanes and the Spitfire is one of my favorites....

I like it! On the "How can it be improved?" section... Perhaps you could figure out a way to indicate the revolving propeller... But be sure to try it on a new layer so as to not mess up the fine work that has already been done! :)

fantastic work... both the aircraft and the sky...

I have tried to put the prop in a few times, I just mess it up. It looks unsightly. I cannot get the transparency needed.
Any help would be appreciated.

Wonderful job on this. The WWII aircraft are great!
As far as the prop goes, have you tried doing it on a separate layer and adjusting the opacity down until you get the right transparency?

First let me apologize as I see there is a critique forum as well and remarks like mine probably belong in that forum... Forgive me I am new here! :o

Second, I think BarnBurner has the right idea! Only make three props on 3 layers. and then they can have the opacity different on all three. It will make it look more realistic I think. If not you can just delete the layers and be right back where you started, with a VERY nice image... :)

Thanks everyone. I'll give it a try. Wait out.

Well here it is. I put the prop in with the roller, then rubbed out areas. Then dropped the opacity until it looked ok.
Im not overly pleased with it but it does look like its moving now.
Thanks for your input.

I think the image looks better now and it was awesome to begin with....

Very good job alien, I was so surprised to see this plane, my dad was a bomber pilot in WW2 and I have the book Fighter And Bomber squadrons at war author Andrew Brookes, my dad's picture is in it and his plane that crashed, I was so shocked to see his pic in it, not just one but a couple of pics, so nice job on the propellers also:):):):)

Like 80+, I used to see these and HEAR that ROAR of the Merlin engines when I were but a lad.............(my very first memory of childhood was my Auntie screaming at me to come into the air raid shelter or a Doodlebug would get me!!! I thought it was great fun at 3/4 years old to run outside the shelter to get the adults all upset!!:D:D:D) For many years I thought that a Doodlebug was a big insect LOL.....................Great depiction of a great flying machine.

This is really great! I'm actually enjoying the background more than the plane. All those colours in the sky make the painting much more vivid.
