View Full Version : The Lighthouse

This painting is based on a watercolour by Arnold Lowrey from his tutorial book 'Sea and Sky in Watercolour'.

I had hoped to emulate the author and also paint in watercolour but alas, there's a bit of everything in there!!

Tony... wow you did a very credible job... trying to get all the watercolor effect digitally with AR is pretty difficult so laying on a little pastel to the the dry brush effect works well... every medium ( even digital ) has its sweet spot for image making... you hit pretty close on this ;):cool:

I love the lighting on the lighthouse. Even in the day it stands out alight.

Thanks guys, your comments were much appreciated. Have been using AR for a couple of months now and look at the Gallery nearly every day. Even so, had some trepidation about actually uploading a painting!

Looks like a wild and windy day but the lighting says that it will clear up later. Great painting Tony:)

Very nice, I really like the texture of the stone on the lighthouse you can almost feel the roughness of it.
