This is stunning Cartuneman. The mist in the backgrounds gives the feeling of heat on a summers day and I like the brushstrokes of the trees where less is more. Wonderful painting:)

thank you all for commenting and liking a late nite brush and knife fest hahahahaha If this had been painted on real canvas with real oil I'd still be cleaning the room up. hahah I laid on tons of paint from the tube and just kept spreading it and this is what came of it.....thanks again everyone!

Thank you, barnburner, MSIE, Alexandra, it was a fun paint. I really don't think it much of a masterpiece Barnburner, but thank you for the comment :o

Sandy glad you like it. and MSIE, the boat on the left was a chore lol It started out White and I even had a sail mast. It was a sail boat to begin with. lol

cartuneman, I think it was a wise decision to change from sailing boat to the coloured one :)

Very nice. How did you do the background trees? The boats are great!

09-13-2011, 02:45 PM
D Akey first off my friend thank you for liking it and posing an interesting question? The trees were globs of different colors from the paint tube tool and then I spread over the trees with the glitter tool and then I moved it all around with the knife tool. the pine trees were made with a dry brush. about a number 50 if I remember right with thinners up a bit. I laid the brush in the color and pulled up and at a taper with my stylus. This painting is actually a larger painting. at 300 dpi and set at 22 inches x 17 inches in height. If this had been a real painting there would have been about a pound of oil paint on the canvas hehe.

MSIE thank you, A sail boat was a bit much and cluttered the scene. I think it looks better as a sister ship to the one on the right ...glad we agree.

mannafig, silvy, Caesar, thank you for the nice comments glad you like it.
