Here is a very quick painting done at 30 pixels per inch to show that a high resolution is only needed when doing detail work hopefully at the end. Just a little demo done in knife only. I did up the res just to post it.

Nice color! The gray and orange really works for a painting. Makes it glow intrinsically, but it also really feels like the sun is setting and the late light is hitting.

Thanks Sandy and mr. D! I like the idea of using low res for "roughing in" the painting as it is super fast. I'm thinking of trying 10 pix per inch next to see how it goes. One could do a really big painting that way.:)

Wow! this is really interesting Neil, I'm definitely going to try low res. it hadn't occurred to me to do this. I love what you have achieved and can see great possibilities in the method, thank you for the post, can't wait to see what you can do with even lower resolution
