Playing around again with the smooth canvas.
Thanks for looking.

I added detail to the eye ball and more shading around face and nose. Also glazed over all layers with amber and midnight blue. Do you think the top layer is too dark? I think I like this one better. C&C welcome.
Thanks for the comments everyone and taking a look.

So sorry folks, last one. I found my file and was able to remake the wolf. I will include a screen shot for folks exploring digital art.

Brilliant how you got it all into a very tight close up. I've never seen Little Red shown quite that way. Feels more psychological and inward than a wider angle on the scene. In film they often go tighter with the camera to imply going inside the character. So when a sequence starts wide and goes tighter, whether through a zoom or a series of cuts, it's showing connection on a personal level. Used to connote love or fear or something like that.

Borrowing from the familiar folk tales is a very cool device because the associations are already in place so the viewer would recognize the twist.

Very cool. Your skills are really getting honed, Alexandra.

OooooooOOOOOoooooooooooo . . . I mean yay. . .

Beautiful work Sandy, I really like this well thought out painting! You have such a flair!
I hope you don't mind my saying and it's not a biggie, but I'm not crazy about the fuzziness of her face. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a great effect but what I don't like is that all the other elements of her head, like her hair and hood are in sharp focus. My brain is fighting to resolve this. :)

Yeah, I as well Neal. I want to go over it again with the specific layer and use maybe thin oil. I am trying to view other artists on DVA as well that I like, trying to accomplish what I want, I'll get there....just slow I guess. I am not happy with the top of the eye either. I will probably upload this several times. Any suggestions, would be appreciated.

Sandy. I'm sorry, I have no qualms about the way you painted the image and I think it's just right and really, really great. I just wanted to point out the out-of-focus part. I wouldn't change a thing but bear in mind the "issue" for future ref.

That is okay Neal. I have had that suggested to me before, but I am stumped really-but I like a challenge! Thanks!

My 2 Cents worth- Focus problems are Often pointed out in my works. One solution is Never Use Any Hard Edges. Another- Always Make All Edges Hard!!! (Ha)

Skylar, Mike, Sabena, and Jean, Thanks so much guys!
Skylar, I know what you mean, thanks dear friend. I want to try one more thing, a layer above with glazing maybe this will add the definition.

MSIE, thanks so much!:) I did something really stupid though-I made it into an avatar, and forgot that I made this one a 2nd, and saved as when I made it small, so I lost it all. Oh well...it made a neat avatar for a while!

Thanks dear Oriane!:):):):):)

Update, I found the file MSIE-what a relief- now I can work on the wolf shadow-the nose is too short to me. Whew!

08-21-2011, 11:17 PM
now that you found the file, the wolf looks even scarier than before  ;)

08-21-2011, 11:35 PM
Thanks MSIE.:)

Alexandra... your changes really improved a great image... you did all the things I was thinking you needed... to cool down the tone of the skin, add more variation in the hair and add a few strokes to the eyebrow and make some eyelashes stand out.... and the wolf if greatly improved with the longer muzzle and fangs.. an outstanding work !!:):):):cool::cool:
