From a couple of old photos my grandparents had, and imagination. Nostalgia. When I was about 5, we traveled to hampton for the first time (for me). The town had (has) only one stop light. One layer. Painterly oils.

Wow... I absolutely love this one Skylar. I come from a very small town in Arkansas, and this really brings back memories. (we didn't have a stop light or stop sign on main street at all. LOL. )
Great job! :):):):)

This limited palette painting eloquently show Your mastery with real oils and brushes! Everything is absolutely fine here and magnificently concurs to the mood and atmosphere.

I love it, the use of a limited palette certainly adds to the time period.
The good old days.

Somehow narrative is this painting. It seems to tell about the time, which is gone. It's beautiful narration though...

What a wonderful nostalgic painting Skylar.
(Darn it I still haven't retrieved that photo for you! Don't give up on me...all of the painting of my woodwork I think has killed more of my brain cells.)

Thank you for all the wonderful comments.
For a little Bkg Info - Arkansas is where I spent my childhood. Outside Pine Bluff. Both my parents were natives. My mother's family are mostly around Hampton, Fordyce, Magnolia. My dad's family are all around Pine Bluff and Little Rock.

Very beautifully done Skylar, wonderful palette, fits very well to the subject. And as Strandy already stated its very narrative. Great!!
