View Full Version : Stain Glass Challenge .

Here is a dirt simple Stain Glass I did to get the ball going. I had fun doing this and I thought others might like to try their hand at it.
With this challenge you can get as simple or complex, as real or unreal as you like. I just thought it would be a fun thing to get started.

Very Interesting.... I haven't tried S.G. in a long time.

I've been thinking of doing a Faux stained glass project I came across on the Instructables website (http://www.instructables.com/id/Faux-Stained-Glass/), where a creative individual made a nice looking panel using glass paints and black hot glue. This would be a good starting point in kicking it off. You might want to move the thread to the Projects forum area though.

Neal, this is amazing, I was lying in bed last night thinking of doing stained glass and what a surprise to see yours today, very nice job, I hope Im not the only one that thinks my brain away of the next painting I will do lol:D

great idea :) and great use of the loaded knife :D

of course I had to try on my own - sadly the result looks more than a carpet than like stained glass :o so I'm gonna try harder tomorrow!

Here's my first attempt. I used a Sticker Spray I created for the lead, and used a number of layer and canvas textures to create the glass effects.

Not long after I posted this our internet stopped working (because of the heat I presume.) It's only worked now and then.
Anyway I am very impressed with what I have seen so far. I reckon I will move it to the Projects Forum as soon as it moves to the 2nd page.
Great response and hoping to see many more, Thanks!!

I did a standard leadlight window for this exercise, using rules and stenciles to mask over the design etc, and used the paint tube for the leading and soldering.
Like your mermaid Pat.:)
Enjoyed the challenge as well.:p

stained glass ... ok, my first try looked like a carpet  .. the next ones just were too bland to show them here

this is what I came up with after NOT trying to create stained glass :D
I was just doodling around (as always .. lol) and then added the silver lines and it looked like stained glass, somehow :o

watercolour, some oil, knife, pencil, paint tube, airbrush - lots of layers and blend modes and so on...
I hope you like it :)

oops, I forgot .. those silver dots are sticker spray "Black Pearl" ;)

What a wonderful thread and artpieces by all the mates! I'm in awe in front of such a blast of creativity and mastery!
I would add a couple of different style old paintings which look a little bit as painted on a glass or window ...

Wow, the first one is fantastic, it's all edgy (well almost all ;)) and you know how much I like angles
