It may be mundane but it's still interesting. I like!!

I suspect that what caught your eye is that the composition is very strong.

The corner perspective, the contrast between solidity and the liquid drops, the toned down high-key colors, I guess this composition is peculiar enough to attract curiosity and wish test Your style on such an extreme and apparently contradictory challenge for Your flat areas spots approach.
You evidently succeeded here too!

Scott - I am finally getting around to comment on this fine work. I agree with Caesar on its qualities... I think that your work especially this one has a masterful quality to the drawing and attention to detail.. this is usually a given in your works. but this particular piece I think requires a certain stillness of mind and spirit to explore its subtle edges. and space. At first it looks a bit dull and has a shallow depth of field... but the more you look the more the space expands and grows and leads the mind to think of where the viewer is in space relation to this and what lies beyond ... the composition is very sophisticated with strong diagonals curves , and richly textures... color here is implied and tells of times passage.... so this is FINE art at its best..:):):cool::cool:

Scott, you have made something that may be boring to look at in reality, but you have turned it into a masterful work of art, the detail is outstanding, and very interesting to look at.....great work;);):):):):);););)
