I still don't know if I should give more definition to the greenery.
Watercolor, palette knife.

Absolutely beautifully done... Rocks and water are just tremendous. Since you asked, my two cents is that perhaps the nearest greenery on each side might be more defined. Regardless, this is a fine piece of work. :):):)

Thank you Barnburner,
I did wonder whether the ferns in the foreground should br more defined, I sort of ran out of steam doing the waterfall.

Tell you the truth - if I could paint water and rocks like that - I wouldn't care what the greenery looked like. :):)

I have defined the ferns in only one corner tell me what you think before I do the otherside.

Oh how lovely! You know Saphire, I am no pro, so I hesitate to give advice, but with the beautifully defined water, you might give it a go on another layer perhaps to see if you like it. Otherwise, a beautiful painting!

Saphire, I only see one painting, so I'm assuming you replaced the first one? If so, fwiw, a little more definition might be needed?

Docsmith, Stock photos can be brilliant for copying practice, I usually try to get my own photos but didn't have one of a good waterfall. It took me sometime to get this one right.

I think the in focus greenery in the foreground certainly adds a sense of depth to you painting.

A great i9mage, Saphire.
I personnally would not make the greenery too explicit, because it would distract the attention from the water.

Very beautiful scene. I like them both. What I would have done though is to sharply define the foreground of what you had done in the 1st one because the style of the second doesn't quite match the feel of the whole painting. Still, it's all very nice.
