more chalk tool practice :)

This is from a photo reference I took while on Vacation in San Diego. Our hotel room faced east, overlooking a marina. I was up waiting for the sun to rise. The original photo was taken with my medium format Mamiya RB-67

I like the dramatic skyline. Nice celebration of the new day beginnings. :)

An RB-67! I used those and the RZ for many, many years! Never thought I would give it up for digital...but I have! Great camera and beautiful image!:):):)

I used to use a Yashika 120-D and loved it. Does anyone know of a medium format digital that won't cost me a year's income?

I still use my RB67, just picked up a box of porta VC 100 for it, and some Ilford B&W, just waiting for spring to show up... We still have a place in town here (suprising for a small town of 50K) that develops 120 film, so I'm not 100 % digital yet. I still use my old Minolta, and my Cannon Elan 7ne 35mm cameras also.

I wish there was an affordable MF digital system. Mamiya's ZD back, with a converter will work on an RB-67. The back is somewhere around 7K and the converter is around 1.5K (22megapixel, 14 bit color). But a new Mamiya ZD kit including the 645 body is somehwere around 10K. But then you can get the full frame cannon 5D MkII body for under 3K and it is 21.1 Megapixel, so is the Mamiya worth it?

My saddest thing about the switch to a digital world was the demise of my all time favorite negative film, the Agfa Ultra Color.

Red sky in the morning...

Very nice. I sailed out of San Diego (Coronado) all my best years.

My favorite was Tri-X, pushed to the limit and printed on high contrast paper. It produced a moody noir effect that I have been unable to get any other way.
