Peter: I will try to express my impression for this unbelievably, wonderful piece. To the chagrin of my wife, who thought lawn work more important, I spent the whole morning thinking about the painting.

It is an old cliche that a picture is worth a thousand words. What of this painting juxtaposing the expanse of the wilderness against a lone wagon so inconsequential as to be barely visible? A million words I say.

This a great story of human endurance and perseverance. Our legacy perhaps.

Depicted, a lone conestoga wagon, perhaps a straggler from the main body, emerges from the hot, arid desert.

Overhead, an ominous gathering of scavengers awaiting death. On the horizon a passage through the mountains provides a sign of hope and a portent of things to come as they pigheadedly cling to a mere possibility.

Thank you for the painting of a million words, of which I used only 151.

I agree 100% with Mr. Dinkles' fine assessment. A tale well told indeed Pete, and well observed.

I hear a crappy old slide guitar. . . Don't know if that would be authentic or not. It just carries the sad color of what I see when stepping into your painting.

I just love the effect of the haze you get on the sun and the back mountains!

In my eyes, the Sun being central is the whole point, it's what gives us all life.... and death is simply a part of life (sorry about the cliche!)

I really enjoyed this piece. Thank you.

Very impressive!! Even though it's no doubt arid, it makes me perspire just to look at it!:)
