View Full Version : Happy THAI New Year

Dear friends,

Just a small cartoon dedicated to the Thai New Year day, 13th April, 2011.

Normally it is the hottest day of the summer, over 100 F. According to the Thai culture, this is the time to pay respect to elders, do merit at temples, let go of captured fish (destined to be food), birds, etc, then have fun splashing water at people. Many people know this festival as "Water Festival". :D

During my 40 years living outside Thailand, I spent time in April, at the festival once because after March, Thailand becomes too hot for me.

The cartoon is a Thai style cartoon technique, done in color, felt pen and knife.

Any comments and advice are always welcome.

Love the food. Love the people.

Cute paintings. I had seen your use of these kinds of figures and now that I can see that faded image of you two, it explains so much. It's your personal couple's language. Charming!

Thanks so much for the nice comments. The Thailand that I knew when growing up there seems to dissapear. Perhaps when living outside a place, we all remember and wish for older things.:D

Thanks again.
