This is the first Rose I have painted from our new home's yard in Costa Rica. We now live about 3000 ft. up the mountain from San Jose, in the Central Valley. A perfect place for flowers and birds - of which, there are Droves. 100% Fine art digital from scratch. In style of oils on canvas. Orig working size was appx 3600x3000 pxl at 300 ppi. 2 layers. (Appx.10x12")

Skylar - excellent job, the slight hint of canvas texture while you maintained the delicacy of the rose and its colors are suberb! Sounds like your in a beautiful environment :):):)

A delightful painting, keeping the delicateness of the petals so well.

This is so beautiful Skylar, the way you have painted the droplets is fantastic. Makes me want to touch them and smell the rose. Its brilliant:)

I'm speechless, such a beautiful painting!
I like the blue color on the petals, and the single droplet which is trying to hide between the petals, very nice! :)

GHX, Limey, Pat, Bobby, Coops, MSIE - Thank you all for the wonderful comments.
As you can see, we have made the move to C.R. Much more difficult than I imagined.
I'm just now settling into the new house. Have already decided to move the studio to the second floor rear (more windows).

Jean, Nika, Suha, ArtA, Lima, Mike, Caesar, BB, Waheed, Vanity - Thank you, Each One! I'm so happy you find this image to your liking. There are several diff. types of roses in the yard, and over time, I will be posting more.
Jean, BB, Waheed - I am still getting used to being here in Costa Rica. One odd thing about the country is they DoNot number residences or businesses. You find you way by landmarks, and approximations!
Lima, Caesar, Vanity - What can I say to such praise, but, I appreciate your words so very much.

Great one, Skylar! Glad you finally made the move to Costa Rica. I haven´t been there for some time, but in the 80´s I spent nearly 3 summers there studying Spanish and enjoying all the natural beauty--not to mention the Ticas as well.

Moving to a foreign country creates a number of surprises and frustrations. I remember the address system: 100 meters to the west of the Coca Cola bottling plant, for instance--even when the bottling plant had long vanished.

Take a deep breath and be very patient. You´ll start to adapt in no time. Just remember Dorothy: "Toto, I don´t think we´re in Kansas anymore." :D

Skylar. Fantastic!! The pearl like quality of your colors and the detail is superb. Great!!

A very elegant rose! I can almost smell it, it looks so real. Congrats on your new home! I spent 7 months (in the early 80's) anchored at Playa del Coco. I know the whole Guanacaste coast is now a big tourist area, but when we were there, only the Ticos and yachties knew about it. Truly a puro vida paradise. Pick a mango for me!:D

Scott - Thanks! You are so right. The description of our home includes "300 meters from Tarbaca Church" I like the name of the house, tho - "Chalet del campo"
Jibes - Thank you. I was trying for those qualities. Roses are my favorite to paint. Each one can be interpreted so differently.
MacP - Thank you. Yes, that area has grown quite a bit. I am looking for a little place in that area to open a gallery.

What a perfect rose for a new home, hope that you have time to enjoy everything you desire.:)
