I recently did some profile pictures for facebook friends. All of them used Art Rage, although the comicbook one was inked, scanned and had some additional work done in Photoshop. I tried to make each of them fit the personality of the subject, so they're a little strange. :)

I posted more about them on my Blog if you're interested:

HarlequiNQB - this is fantastic work I especially like the one with the cityscape background and the face has great light and color. but all show a different quality of personality not an easy task to have such a variety of style and content... :):):):):)

She-ra and her steed, Spirit! Haven't seen a picture of those in ages! Great pictures! I'm sure your friends all loved them! :)

Thank you all, I'm very glad you like them :)

Caesar - I think I'm a ways of doing this professionally yet, but I very much appreciate the compliment :)

J Witt - he has a photo of himself with Hello Kitty rings (he has daughters). From there it was a logical step to switch it up and take it further - at least for me :)

I ended up doing a number of simpler ones for other friends too. I won't bore you with all of them, but these two were of interest (I think).

Thank you all. I appreciate the kind words.

It was an interesting experiment, and including the initial 4 "special" portraits I ended up painting 10 facebook portraits in 12 months. It was good practice, even if finding suitable photos to work from was sometimes a hassle.

I'll post the rest if anyone is interested.

Decided to do this again this year - this is the first of four I agreed to do, with the names again pulled metaphorically from a hat of those who showed an interest. This time I let people pick their own images - as it turned out all those picked had decided to have pictures of others painted rather than themselves.

I haven't seen this thread, and what a treat! Wonderful paintings!

The lucky winners from that 'metaphorically speaking' hat draw, not only chose images that were more
important to them, but also lucked out on the artist that will paint them. I'm certain they will
appreaciate and enjoy the paintings as much as I've enjoyed viewing the first one.
Take care friend,
Steve

Well Steve, they seem to be appreciating them, so that's all I can ask for really (from them anyway, for myself I learn with each one, so there is much to be gained). :)

Here's a new one. Trying a different style of brushwork here; allowing the texture of the canvas to help with much of the blending (low pressure, low thinners, insta-dry)

Of course they are, not many people are lucky enough to recieve a gift of a portrait....
I really like 'wrapped up and ready for the cold Matt' and the lightness of the last portrait.
Really enjoy viewing your work James, unique and exceptional, all wrapped up into one....
has warmth in its presentation.
Take care friend,
Steve

Thank you Caesar, Coops, Steve, Andrea, Silver, copespeak and Oubass.

Caesar - I'm not sure about superstar, but I'll take the compliment before someone runs off with it :)
Steve - You know, you've inspired me a lot lately. I think I'll take a leaf from your book for a subject one day soon (not so unique after all, but we all must take inspiration where we find it :))
Oubass - Well, I'm not sure I could capture a plane quite as well as you did - so perhaps we should inspire each other to keep learning. There's always something new to learn if you look hard enough (or in my case not hard at all as those things seem to find me :))

Thanks again all. More to come on this thread in the next few weeks no doubt.
