After studying a recent landscape by Waheed Nasir " Nature - untainted" I wanted to see how he got just great brush strokes and texture.. I learned a lot but missed being able to duplicate any of his great brush work. This was a 20 minute sketch... :):):)

I don't think there are many could attain to the brush work of Waheed, but
this is sure a lovely piece of art on its own merit.

Your outside of the box pieces are so unique. When I see your name in the Gallery I say, Oh! What is he up to know. And you never let me down.

gz and pd thanks so much for the kind comments. GZ you are right that not many can bring out the brush work of Waheed but it is a fun challenge to try to get there. Being a amateur with little formal training , I learn best by looking at others works and i am learning a lot from this forum..:):):):):)

I hope You don't get discourage. As for a first 20 minutes attempt, there are many interesting parts and details and the whole works.
I suspect it takes a little more time also to the magical Waheed, who's a master, a professional and has got such a practice that would deserve a book and a DVD set for us all to enjoy and learn some of his supernatural powers ...:D

Alan - this is done with oils with a high thin setting and layers set blend mode to soft light. I have done traditional watercolors for many years ( although not in the past few ) so my natural technique is to build up transparent layers. I have found that AR does this by thin oils and using multiple layers and setting the blend modes to overlay or soft light.:):)

this is beautiful!
gxhpainter, i esp like the composition and that unfinished look at the edges, artistic indeed!
to be honest, the whole charm of art is to be different, every work is beautiful in its own way and thats very true in this very case..:).
