View Full Version : Graffiti Art

12-21-2006, 12:44 PM
My orginal intention for buying ArtRage was to do layout in Graffiti Art style for a old garage in my back yard. It is long and I have often considered it for a great mural.

Your project if you should choose to accept is to create a "air brush & roller only" painting in Graffiti Art style. Use the airbrush on it's side, overspray, whatever mimicks a can of spray paint, and create some Graffiti Art.

Personal tags are acceptable, preferably something beyond the "toy" art stage.

PS. A link to inspire you.

Well, the garage is gone. Tornado took it out in early May. House survived.

Nonetheless, here is my tag, let's see what you can come up with.

06-16-2007, 07:02 AM

Nice idea. Here is my. :D

06-16-2007, 07:05 AM

This is tracing from graffiti photo.

06-16-2007, 07:16 AM

Sorry, i start to test things, this is one of my HeiTaiTee-series drawing to paint graffiti-wall.

What  that's one stupid thing to happen.

Well.. here is something I made only using the airbrush.. It's not 100% graffiti style, I think, but it should be enough.

06-22-2007, 08:40 AM
Thanks for the participation. The work is great. Heikki's first one was neat, and the second one's technique has me stumped. How does one get bubblies in artrage?

Wikash, excellent graffiti art! Love it. I have noticed some large markers being used recently for graffiti art so it fits.

06-22-2007, 08:50 AM
Mouse, check out the glitter tool. There are round shapes, square shapes, rough shapes, mixed shapes. I think you will find out how to do bubbles. :D

06-22-2007, 09:44 AM
Here's my very girly graffiti signature. :-D

06-22-2007, 09:45 AM
Nice!:D The text is allmost like neon. :o

06-22-2007, 01:34 PM
Carefull creationsings, that is so realistic, for a moment I feared you went non-virtual. Nice tag.

06-23-2007, 12:37 AM
I hope I'm not too late fo the project!!

06-23-2007, 06:57 AM
Thank you, Wikash...glad you liked it.
Mouse, hehe...that's the beauty of ArtRage paper textures. :) I can live vicariously through my computer. :-D
Caesar, I like your skateboarder. I also like the way you have some brick showing through the wall. Nice effect.

06-23-2007, 07:37 AM
Thank You creationsings and pleased to meet You in these Fora (i.e Forums in original ancient Latin plural)! :)

07-08-2007, 06:20 PM
I sure hope heikki replies to the question asked, I am also very curious about those small paint balls in grafitti2 pic...

Anyone have any ideas how this was done?

Basic i use trace-image-photo that second image, what have i taken at real graffiti. And bubbles comes from glitter-tool tracing.
1. Open new image example size 1280-1024.
2. Load trace image and size it like you want. Don't convert on the layer.
3. Use glitter-tool, bubble, and trace that graffiti on the layer using trace image colors.
5. Use edit paper settings and make that backround like you want.

Glitter-bubbling give something new,,,,nice testing times. :D

07-08-2007, 08:59 PM
I think I was having a problem with step 2

I just realized that there was different shapes in the glitte, usually mine only looked like small chips that you get at a casino.

Tere is so much to this program, but thx for taking the time to explain it, appreciate it alot.

08-06-2007, 09:54 AM

08-21-2007, 06:43 PM
nice one speggie...be careful you dont drip any paint as you run or the police shall be straight after you  :D

08-21-2007, 08:31 PM
I always new grafitti art involved a lot of skill...but man is is ever so much harder than it looks....here is my rather unsucessful attempt

08-21-2007, 08:57 PM
Speggie, that is wonderful job on graffiti. You really have a calling there!
Looks exactly like you could grab a can anytime and have a go at it.

Nice signature Selby!

09-01-2008, 07:25 PM
Here is 2 pieces i did as a logo for a friends tattoo shop.I have customers like this style i do...thx art rage for the felt pen...It made writing out custom names EZ.The pont style has a chinese character look to it, i thought.Either way it works and makes money.

09-04-2008, 07:50 AM
this is a style i use to use on my schoolbooks all the time.

my books were plastered in graffiti style writing.:D

10-24-2008, 05:57 AM

I spent most of the time on the girl.

10-27-2008, 05:49 PM
I'm a newbie wth this artrage stuff, and its pretty awsome. Figured I would create and post this so that some of you know what graffiti looks like.

10-28-2008, 11:14 AM
Luv the brick wall look ShockHorror. Graf works well too. Awesome graf Josh! Thx for posting

10-31-2008, 11:31 PM

Mizumi Nightmare
11-01-2008, 05:26 AM
Heres my entry, All tricked out and stupid phresh.....:)

You didn't make that.
That's from that graffiti font making site.
What was the point?

11-01-2008, 07:51 AM
I've never done any real graffiti and really wouldn't know what good graffiti should look like, so don't be too hard on my attempt here, lol.

11-01-2008, 08:34 AM
Hi Mizumi Nightmare.
I will take that as a compliment.

No I actually created that piece in Artrage. I scanned in a rough pencil and used the same graffiti techniques I've been using sine the 80's.

Layering. insets and bevels etc.

Here is the pencil rough from my sketchbook if you don't believe me.

Danny M

11-01-2008, 04:44 PM
Well, I was bored again. Thought I'd throw this together to burn the time. Tried somthing different with color scemes. Its easier to experiment on artrage than rattling a can next to a wall!

11-01-2008, 06:17 PM
Im sure a lot warmer too!!! Haha...

Stay up Brutha,

11-01-2008, 11:42 PM
Warmer?.., for sure! I'd like to see more of your stuff, your graf is classic and sick! Gotta love ArtRage!

11-02-2008, 03:48 AM
Some really good colourful Graffiti Art here.
TatooFusion that last one looks very complex and entwined I really love the colour.

11-02-2008, 04:16 PM
Well, made another one. Damn!, I got alot of free time. This ones got a bubble gum kind of look, HA! HA!:p

11-03-2008, 12:04 AM
A quick B-Boy character.

11-03-2008, 12:24 PM
That's good TatooFusion and I like your B-boy DannyM.

11-03-2008, 09:11 PM
So.....does anybody have any graf to contribute? Nice "B" boy danny, not really graf though. Come on people, Pick some letters and get f&$king wierd with it. Keep it under 6 letters and twist that sh!t up!

11-04-2008, 01:22 PM
Here is a rough sketch I want some feedback before I finish.

By the way it says Fresh.

I saw this Thread and went and learned graffiti (to an extent) in two days.

11-04-2008, 05:24 PM
Pretty cool, now lets see some color!

11-04-2008, 11:48 PM

11-07-2008, 12:33 AM
Here's a wild experiment. Can you guess what it says?

11-07-2008, 12:44 AM
I have to admit that I am stumped. I do however like your fades, the buildings and the antennae especially.

can we get a hint?:)

11-07-2008, 02:56 AM
Is it saying "SORRY" ?

very good piece ! well done !

D Akey
11-07-2008, 09:58 AM
Looks like two rows of text like the name of a hang out: "unknown word" Club -- Club being the word I think I can make out.

Seems like the intention is to have it appear like a coded message for the hip and homies. Maybe for something like a Rave party. Analogous to pig latin.

11-07-2008, 10:22 AM
I'll give you one hint. It's a 4 letter word. Good luck!:D

11-07-2008, 11:45 AM
Um, I think its the "F" bomb....

Yup its the "F" bomb...

11-07-2008, 12:14 PM
Nope, not the "f"- bomb. Next hint, Its no form of profanity. Well, not really. Close guess though Danny.

D Akey
11-07-2008, 02:20 PM
Does it SUCK?

11-07-2008, 05:04 PM
Bulls eye D Akey! I'll have to make the next one a bit harder!

D Akey
11-07-2008, 05:51 PM
I have to give that one to DannyM. He put me onto it. I honestly hadn't seen it before.

Anyway, cool design challenges.

11-10-2008, 06:47 AM
Here's my very girly graffiti signature. :-D
my daughter erica will love this, can I steal it for a christmas card ??

11-14-2008, 06:45 AM
my daughter erica will love this, can I steal it for a christmas card ??

Sure...go right ahead. :) It's funny, I hadn't checked this site in a while, and then when I do, I find a message to me. :p I suppose I should come around more often.

04-24-2009, 10:42 AM
I spotted the graffiti, thought I'd add to it.

04-25-2009, 04:45 AM
That is fantastic, Jules! If you don't mind my asking a trade secret: Was that all done in ArtRage? The detail is amazing. It looks so much like a real wall with graffiti.

04-26-2009, 09:13 PM
My first experience with graffiti, i hope you like:)

07-23-2009, 12:11 PM

09-21-2009, 10:35 PM
Beautiful grafitti everyone. I finally did one also after too long thinking of doing one.

09-21-2009, 11:42 PM
Wow, that's great GZ!
Mouse, I am just now getting to this project. I know this is not graffiti, but maybe this could be an idea for a future project. We have an old well house, and when my son was small he was afraid of it. I didn't even like going there. The people that built it, just left it a little block house, poorly roofed, and cemented. A builder helping us at the time with our floor told us to knock it down... I told him to have an imagination, and I still had a workable well! Anyway; I asked the kids what they wanted it to look like. They said barn. I was thrilled. I pulled books, and started drawing the animals that they wanted. Out I went with a paint and roller in hand. I painted it reddish brown like our house. I took painters tape and made squares for the windows and sprayed flat black outdoor paint. I painted the animals in the windows, and in front. My brother in law and dear friend of ours took old outdoor decking lumber that he didn't need, and framed the windows for me, and we lapped old decking on the door to make an old barn door. I will take a picture and upload it as soon as I can. The kids loved it, and it was a nice addition to our backyard. This also houses my husbands dirt bikes, and our pet snake Sergeant King. :D

09-22-2009, 02:33 AM
Thanks Alexandra! I look forward to seeing the photo of your shed. !!!

09-22-2009, 05:03 PM
This is my marker Graffiti. Graffity should be a little bit edgy I reckon, gives it a vibe.

09-23-2009, 07:31 PM
I made this, titled "School Wall" made entirely in AR 2.5 except the word "EXIT"

09-24-2009, 09:57 PM
I will be submitting my photo of the wellhouse soon GZ, raining everyday here-I am thankful I don't live in Atlanta-serious flooding right now-9 gone and one missing. When it dries up a bit I will take a photo and get it uploaded.:)

10-01-2009, 01:37 AM
Dear Mouse, I know this is not graffiti, but just an idea for painting structures that are less than attractive.
This was a block building, we leave unattended except to house old dirt bikes, and mowing equipment, and our pet snake Sg. King. It was so plain and ugly. I am not the best painter in the world, but my kids told me what they wanted on there and I tried my best. The wood was old decking board that my brother in law had in his scrap pile, and he framed the windows for me, and he and my husband hammered the deck boards on the door to make it look like a barn door.

10-01-2009, 01:48 AM
lol Alex that is fantastic!!! the kids must love it

10-01-2009, 02:57 AM
lol here's mine. pants but in the "spirit" of graffiti,,

10-02-2009, 12:04 AM
Thanks Stephen, yeah- they really do. No more looking out the back window and seeing this grey block ugly building.
I really like your graffit! OOOO I will add mine soon.:D

Tattoo, Those are excellent!!!!!

Albert, Thank you very much!

04-17-2010, 03:10 AM
Cool! I love all this graffiti, and especially Jules' huge and detailed one (page 7?) and anything that Danny and tattoo fusion have posted - just spectacular!

I am just too too impressed.:eek:

04-17-2010, 08:00 AM
Does it say slayer? Sorry, but no. Not to far off though!

08-06-2010, 04:41 PM
file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/Jess/Desktop/Tag2.jpgI've done a couple mostly just tag work. I'll try to get them in this post. They aren't the best but practice makes perfect as they say.

Peeeeeeeeeewwwwww.........BOOM! Had to blow you up again!!!!

Stunning!!! :eek::cool::D

11-24-2010, 12:07 AM
I got Artrage pro, and a SWEET new tablet! Trying to bring back a dying thread. Does anybody wanna play? Funny, if you could read it, it says "play". Words are the easiest thing to play with, try it out!:D

09-26-2011, 03:55 AM
Belive it or not, it actually says "Bored". If it's 6 letters or less, it can be graffiti.
Thanks. I do see that after you point it out, but never would have got that on my own I think.

The new one is awesome. great colors splatters drips and textures. As far as Play... I got the a and the y. The P and the L would never get sorted out in my brain. Love it though.

10-17-2011, 11:45 AM
Thanx Screen, I have alot of fun with this stuff. The great thing about graffiti is that it can be ledgible, or completely abstact. This is a great thread, hope it doesn't die.

12-11-2011, 12:18 AM
SORRY can't run

12-15-2011, 07:37 AM
gave it another go. oil and airbrush. some sticker brush and pencil as well.

12-30-2011, 11:50 AM
Nice Screenprinter! I like the feel of this one. Very edgy. It reminds me of a very close-up photo of some of the amazing graffiti that covers the walls that I've seen on my trips through Europe. Very cool concept.

12-30-2011, 02:15 PM
Thanks Tattoo Fusion. Your turn. :)

12-30-2011, 03:24 PM
Oh yes, I'm on it! Sorry for not spelling your username correctly. Here's a challenge, how about you tell me what word to use. Remember, 6 letters or less.

12-31-2011, 06:58 AM
brave, resist, artist, stand.... pick one or more. :)

12-31-2011, 09:01 AM
I really like resist, I'm gonna run with that one! I'm already putting it together. Thanks for such a great suggestion. I'm a little supprised that I haven't used that word before.

01-03-2012, 02:16 PM
Here's my layout for RESIST. I figured I'll play with the biggest resistance currently in America. Go 99%!!!!!

01-06-2012, 09:30 PM
Well, here it is! Fun project, but it was a bit wild. I try to think about how many cans it would take to do something like this. Also, the amount of time. Anyway,.....enjoy!:D

01-06-2012, 11:19 PM
ha! very cool. great color. it was nice to be able to know the word and then see how you tweaked it.

01-11-2012, 07:54 PM
Looking nice..gud work

01-16-2012, 01:19 PM
Thanks guys. It was fun. I'm looking forward to seeing what somebody else post.
