Well this started out as an abstract and turned into a forest (story of my life with abstracts). :)

That's a great forest that grew up from your brush :)

The abstract that morphed into a forest...turned out very well...

Dear Sketch, I tend to do the same with abstract and initial wild casual strokes. Quite soon I either start to see something to carve out or feel the need to add some real-like element into the picture ... :(:p
This work stunned me and I find You got here such a superbly real view of an tangled, intricate forest, that I wonder if anyone could ever get the same effect by a purposedly and intentional start and planning.
It would at least take days and days of patient work and copy on some detailed reference, should it be enough.
Your artistic brain succeeded to find a shortcut through hyperspace here!:cool::):):):):)

Eddie, a funny story and a great painting. I'd like to see a bigger file to see some of the detail. It looks marvelous. :)

Thank you everyone!

@Caesar - I completely agree with you! There is no way I would have taken this approach had I set out to paint a forest from the beginning. A fun and interesting exercise of the brain. I suppose that my issue of abstracts turning into representational forms is evidence that I paint with the left half of the right half of my brain...lol!

@Byron - Sorry about the small image, I had a preset on my resizing software that I forgot to change. Here is a larger file... Don't get lost in there!

Simply wonderful outcome here. It is fascinating what brush and our imagination can do. Very fine job indeed.:)

Sketch, this is wonderfully done. Takes a lot of work to make a forest scene. Great job! :):)

Eddie, Thx for posting the larger image - it was well worth coming back to take a close look. I think the thing is great - mindbogglingly wonderful. This is one to print large and frame and hang prominently. Better go back to that printing thread, because this is one. I love it. :):)

Thanks everybody for the great comments!

@Byraon, thank you, I agree, I would love to see how this one would look in a large print. Perhaps someday when I have some extra $$. Printing can get pricey.

Beautiful Sketch. One can read in the picture, one can look for the missing peace of the puzzle of life between those slender tree trunks... and so trustfull to the eye.... love this.:)...
