I used my basic approach for this one, but added some steps and jumped between Photoshop, Art Rage and Painter a number of times. Along the way I kept some of the intermediate images and thought some might find it interesting to see them.
From Top Left to right
1. Screen cap of a frame from a video of Wes Montgomery
2. Arranged in Photoshop with a bassist drummer photos
3. Tweaking the arrangement according to the Golden Section
4 through 9. Colorized variations for compositing
10. Composite is brought into Art Rage and a rough underpainting version is created using pallet knife, pastels, oils and inks.
11. Tracing made from original photo composite used to help adjust details and maintain original layout
12. Image is brought into Painter Essentials and auto painted using oil and modern colors settings
13. Auto painting and Art Rage versions are blended using 50% transparency overlay, flattened and image is smoothed using blend pallet knife. Ink outlines added to define edges of some objects. Frosted pallet knfe is used on backgrounds to "rough them up" a bit
14. Painting is brought back into Photoshop and Photoshop pastel brush is used to add gritty pastel embellishments to figures and background.
