Hail O Caesar O Mighty One yeah just popped up to 9 to see the girl as she was shy but i told her that nice boy from Italy is there she brightened up then
ok :D:D OW make sure when your are by this way its the UNI Bus ok
otherwise you'll end up in Tunbridge Wells well while your there have a drink
of their healing water i think those bloody Roman's started it off as a tourist
attraction before they buggered off said its to cold here plus keep getting
that mad lot from up the road running around ockeying and those plpe's
haven't heard anything like it since the wailing on the wall another mad lot

this one just done its a copy from a bloke in L/A I think?? found by
accident was looking for a artist and wasn#t sure of his name had a vauge
feeling something like grun or grunwald well I bunged grun on google and this
bloke came up Chris Grun looking at his stuff was like looking at Washenasi's
stuff the mind boggles think they are both in the film game ok well

Thank You, dear ATPlus! Emil Gruppe was certainly a good professianl painter, very much in line with historical American art school teaching, taste and representation conventions and I find enjoyable and quiet to look at. He certainly has also similarities with Your style, You're right, so I'm not to surprised You like hime very much and may be one of the references for You to go on evolving Your approach. If I may suggets another one I don't see too much fra from Your style and, hopefully, Your taste, have a look on google image to the paintings of Gustave Moreau and let me know if You found anything interesting there.

You are coming up with some remarkable images. . . like you're a cover band performing the hits. Best order me up a couple tankards o' moon rivers with all these ladies you've been paining. All kinds of personalities in there. I love the hotity toity couture one at the end there with her little serving chap. I think he used to work as a lawn jockey in front of a mansion in Georgia, you know, those little statues of a fellow holding out a ring to which you can hitch your horse. At least they worked. Now all they got on the front lawns are no-account ceramic gremlins and plastic pink flamingos. And ya wonder about the state of the economy. . . but I digress. . . Yeah. Had a couple moon rivers on the way here.

What this all appears to me like, Mr Ploos, is that you're not human at all. . . you ARE THE BUS! And we're all taking the 80+ line. These are all your passengers, and a right collection they are as well -- a veritable slice of life filled with characters and artists. They get on the bus, but by the time they've reached their destination, they have become Ploosed. And those what have their own transport are non-ploosed at missin oot.

Tell me, do ye serve 'aggis on the trip, passed oot by gorgeous attendants right oot of a Toulouse Le Star Trek? Boot aye digress. . .

I really like how you sort of 'get behind the wheel' and drive these different artists, like Hockney and so forth. It really shows the influence when you do it. And yet they all, as Caesar said, have your vision to them.

Very celebratory. Not sure if it's the Magic Bus or the Magic Ploos. Note to self: queue The Who. (Hope you can get this in the UK. The room's filled with some of your models.)

OMG! My mother used to sing that to me as a child... I asked her a couple years ago what all the jumble meant. To my surprise I discovered that I hadn't understood the words to that song my entire life, but there actually are actual SENSIBLE WORDS to it.

It goes like this: "Mares eat oats and does eat oats and little lambs eat ivy, a kid'll eat ivy too, wouldn't you?"

I think there may be a slight misnomer tho, when you do work that's a take off on somebody, it mostly means their artistic style, noot takin off o' their kilts. I mean they could get 'em hung as a spy for noot wearin' their uniform, neh? And I'm noot all fired shoore it would be a good 'angin.

Nice selection of sketches. I really like the directness of that Jack Palance portrait. He looks to be a Van Gogh type.

Actually I quite like it. One of your many styles. It reminds me a little of a cross between Wayne Thiebaud in his Pop phase and David Hockney in whatever phase it was when he did this kind of thing. Has an early 70s feel, which is very cool as a way to paint a figure. It's sort of with one foot in realism and the other in using the natural figure breaks to create pools for brushwork.

I really like it. But I especially like how you have used the blue of the background to influence the color mixing. Kind of keyed to harmonize in a Pop-Jazz sort of way. A device to find an additional component of unity which related everything while it is stepping away from realism.

Love how you have finished of the last painting dear Eighty. It is very much like Hockney's paintings. I have a DVD of him painting out in all weathers in the Yorkshire countryside. Never much cared for him until I saw this DVD, it shows his great yorkshire humour which you either get or you dont. now one suggestion, in the Venus de Milo picture, I assume the cat is also from Milo, therefore I think you should show the cat de Milo also has lost its arms. :) I liked Dumbo too.
I have no idea where GZ is. Hope it was sunnier there than it was here today. :) The human portrait sketches are fantastic as always.

You're doon every bit of alright with them oily colors, lad. You're startin' oot with making it simple. And still it's lookin' full and descriptive like.

At this point, I will also make a recommendation t' expand yer range a wee bit by tryin' to use other colors for your line instead of only black and save yer darkest bits for the naturally occurring dark places, like yer beard :D. You can do the same thing, only try different colors and see what happens.

Nothin' wrong with what you're doing presently. It rocks. Boot, ye could creep up on a tonal paintin' that a-way, Mr. D. Crocket. We do need to get ye a raccoon pelt ta cover the pate like any proper explorer type, as ye are, laddie. We'll also have to get ye a guitar, and I think you'll be a sensation in the manner of Ricky Nelson. You can be come the Buskin' Ploos on the Brighton Boos, neh?

Looking good Mr. Ploos. I think that in your using different colors in your line for your paintings that you will then at some point be able to integrate those as paint strokes as you are creating edges to forms within your subject. That means you can vary the weight of the line a lot, and/or you can use it as the starting point for the local color of the (face or hair or what have you) and paint inward.

I understand it must feel right now like you're a juggler keeping a couple bean bags in the air. Ultimately we will have you juggling all sorts of household objects, chainsaws, commemorative plates with the queen's face on it, cats, you name it. . . and all at once.

That means once you get to seeing an edge not so much as a trap line (tech term for an outline in typography within which there is color), you will begin to experience the joys of volume and tone.

But you done great, laddie.:cool::cool:


Oh, as an aside about you losing your post because ArtRage forum software killed it, I have had that experience as well many infuriating times. So it's not just you. What I recommend is that before you click on it to post, select all the text and copy it. And only after you have it copied, then press post. It has saved me a lot of grief. This forum software is only fair to middlin. . .
But it's a grand forum and that's a fact. So I ain't complainin' overmuch. Just figured out a work around. :rolleyes:
