Ach an' Hoot! I well dennay care to tempt fate by sayin' at the minute all's fair. Boot a stirrup pump could be well 'andy should circumstances change.

I will say though that there's been a whole lot of smoke in the air and ye can smell it. But the fire's well away (knock on wood), but that just tells how bad it is where the flames are. Poor folks.

(I actually had to look 'stirrup pump' up since it's not common as they've been replaced by fire extinguishers particularly in dry places like here. Looks a bit like an old bicycle pump, doesn't it.

But I sincerely do thank ye for the offer, my friend! Hopefully the offer stands.)

Yeah, I think ye need to put some swirly movement in the grass and the sky -- all over actually because it be the expected look seeing as yer a-copyin' one of ol' Van Gogh's famous shots.

Overall it's great tho. I like the sway and distortion of the church and the road has some nice strokes conforming to the rhythm of the path.

I think that's the key to the whole Van Gogh thing -- is that he was riffing on the shapes like a musician. He looks at the overall shape of the bit and creates a rhythm to it with his paint strokes like a player following chord progressions with fiddly notes. But ye n'e'r lose sight of the overall. . . unless it be a JAZZ thing.

I like the pattern in this latter one. It's not so demanding of the eye's attention as the first one with the blue and white stripes. And the pattern of the fabric in the cap is terrific -- nice and subtle.

Yeah Cap Mac his hands cost me my breakfast as I had put about a dozen of those chicken Dippers
in the top oven for so they tell me 16 mins ok so went back to the drawing and the next thing I knew
was the Fire alarms going off a hell of a din ok so had to dash around to open all the windows to

Great lighting. But I'm not sure that's cod they're eating. I think it's one of those fish from the super deep waters of the Marianas Trench what come with a light bulb on their noggin.

Happens to me all the time, shipmate -- when I get into something the day just goes by in a blink -- all the more so if I sleep through it.

Well this lot in the latest painting look like they're playing raga chamber music that probably put those listening to sleep as well. I figure you could mass produce this and sell it as a sleep aid -- artist tested. I can just picture people nodding off and falling out of their Louis XIV chairs.

Wow de wow, MacPloos! Your palette is reminding me a bit of some of J.C. Leyendecker's -- the illustrator from around the 1920s.

I think it's a fascinating thing to take Rembrandt's limited color paintings and give them a new zip and pazaaz with some bright, almost pastel palette life.

He often kept the brown palettes, but he also got into some artificial electric lighting whereas Rembrandt only had candle light or sunlight. Makes sense since they had to mix their own paints from pigments back then so supplies were somewhat dear.

The illumination brightened and it's easier to see them. Looking at the painting stages it's like ol' Rembrandt was cranking up the dimmer switch on the lights in a theatrical fade in. I can almost hear the narrator saying: "Our scene opens. . ."

Well, some women are like that. Sweet chameleons. Maybe the color changes like a mood ring depending on what you're reading into her expression.

I have to say you really did a great job on this one. Wonderful appeal and lovely expression. Stands up to some of the impressionist and post-impressionist styles -- even slipping into expressionism, a wee bit.

Well, they have those inexpensive magnifier glasses. Don't they have delivery from the grocer's in your area? You could get some milk and magnifier glasses in one drop off. At least you could see what you're painting, and you could have milk with your cornflakes.

Here's a tip: Dennay use water on your cornflakes and waste yer milk in your bath, lad, unless ye overvalue yer creamy smooth skin.

Call for a delivery from the local retailer. At the very least those cheap glasses could help ye locate yer proper glasses.

So Brighton in the 30s was a seasonal seaside destination for mobs of visitors? Bet it was something to experience. I see some old photos from the 50s around New York and New Jersey and that heavily populated area -- all as a way to beat the summer heat before air conditioning. So many people with their towels and blankets that ye couldn't spit and hit the ground. Shoulder to elbow packed in like sardines.

Anyway, yer doon fantastic with yer crowd control, matey. Keep the paint flowing!

Yeah, I also hope Caesar's in good health and just bored out of his mind, off to the coast of some beautiful Mediterranean seaside villa cause we don't have a herd o' gals ta entice him into parading about and giving his take on things.

Personally my money says as he was busy tanning himself aboard some yacht, he fell to the Sirens cause he forgot to lash himself to the mast as he sailed past all them bosoms -- all singin' and swingin'. And 'e got so turned around he threw out his back and wound up dashed upon the rocks.

But then. . . then in rushed Circe like a bouncing red suited Baywatch lifeguard who turned him into an old goat. . . for some literary fait accompli I imagine. And he's painting watercolors that smell of suntan lotion and brine.

How is the lockdown affecting you - do you get your food delivered and are your neighbours still checking on you? We are extremely lucky here in my part of Oz.

The only infections we have are with returned travellers from overseas and they are quarantined in special 'medi hotels' which are regular hotels (five) in the city taken over for the use of returned travellers. I think at the moment there are about 18 infectious cases from hundreds of people serving their quarantine period which is usually 14 days. There are no cases in the community or in hospital.
