After a devastating blow, the fighter hit the canvas and the lady ref rushed over: "'Ere. . .just 'ow many fingers I got op?. . .'ow many fingers. . . Right I'm stoppin' the fight!" <ding ding ding>

PoseDrawSki sez: "Bloody 'ell! An' I 'ad a fiver on ol' canvas-back Charlie an' all. . ."

Excellent continuation into the later rounds, MacPloos! Ye got stamina, I can say that. 'Ere, spit in the bucket. Now when you go back out there, work the bread basket. . ."

I'm also lovin the previous one. Looks like it's a game of "Where's David Crosby?" from Crosby, Stills & Nash --He's in the lower right. Massive crowds. Very ambitious ye are.

I've eaten too much candy this season. Bought my candy early. Kids never come. I consumed all the candy. There's something so wrong in that process, but I can't seem to help meself. And I really don't like candy. It's just so freaking addicting. So take it from me what fell prey to the sugar rush, oh aye. Dunnay follow me dreadful path. Sorry lad, misspelled his name. It be Yorick.

Urich was a chap I went to high school with. He definitely looks different in his high school yearbook pic and hope he's presently with far more meat on the bones that Yorick. Thought everyone on the Isles had to know all of Shakespeare cliche's. I thought with it being the All Souls Day that you were deliberately popping him into the mix.

PoseDrawSki sez: Best broosh oop on yer Bard, laddie, oh aye, for withoot, there be consequences.

It's a beauty, Mr Ploos. She looks statuesque. I have wonder if all those flowing robes weren't designed so the painters and sculptors would have something cool to depict with flowing graceful lines and all, a framing device of sorts, like petals on a flower with the lassie at the center.

David McCallum was born in Glasgow. Moved to London when his dad was to take over as Concertmaster of the London Phil. In the bombings, he was evacuated back to Scotland. I would have thought Mc was Irish not Scot which is Mac? Anyway, So that's where he be from. More info than I knew before.

I consider him part of the British Invasion which was in large part a music thing because part of the success of the Man from UNCLE was his being British which drove the lassies in me grade school wild. Brits and Troll Dolls = peas in a pod.

Everything British in those days was going to get a warm juicy welcome from the American lassies. Had you hopped on a boat over here in the 60s, MacPloos, you would have been an honorary rock star and been oop t'yer arse in lassies, Oh aye. Well, heck, I assume you weren't already knocking 'em oot with yer magic tricks conjuring beer and whatnot.

Other paintings looking good as well. Love the boat with the stormy sky. The one cloud looks like you patterned it after a Daumier sketch with that cartoonish profile. Good stuff lad.

PoseDrawSki sez: "I think at this point, ye be starring in The Man from G.R.A.N.D.P.A. and drivin' all the lassies wild with yer cloak an' dagger ways. Move over Sean MacConnery. There's a new spy in town. We call 'im MacPloos -- Eight Double O -- with a license ta paint."

I heard all these celebs were threatening to leave the country. Want some for modeling? Everybody seems to love to paint them. Might get a good deal. Outfit the lads with some tights and you got yourself a star-filled period painting -- an original at that.

Should title this one, "Who's the Boss?" Aye.

Yeah, Trump got elected because the robbers been undercutting the working class to where there's no industry any longer and thus no jobs for a massive swath of the voters. They're seeing this as their chance to break the stranglehold.
Michael Moore said before the election that if Trump gets elected it will be the biggest F U in history. It's loud and clear I think. He also said that like with Brexit, the vote is one thing. Actually living with the reality of it is another. All to be seen.

Trump's a bit of a magician to have pulled this off. It could be descent, it could be disaster, it could be totally ineffective, it could be brilliant. It's what happens when a loose canon takes office. Let's see if legislators cooperate.

I was so on the fence I was fine with either way it went cause I understand both sides cause I feel both sides. Elections have proven often as not merely rhetoric to get elected. Whether anything good comes from any of them it's yet to be seen based on the proof being in the cornflakes. . .or pudding. Talk is cheap. Bribes less so. I would love to see a big improvement in where we are cause things have deteriorated to where I'm wondering if industry is recoverable. We need a magician. You busy? Apply within.

PoseDrawSki sez: I'll have another if Mr Ploos is buyin'. . . I need it.

Domo arigato, Mr Grafitto! I say thank you so much-oh, Mr. MacPloos-o. . .

Hahaha. Love the building art. Very clever, young fella.

PoseDrawSki sez: Looks like Inspector Poirot's is leading the Neighborhood Watch. I don't know whether I'd be safe with him at the helm, but doubtless if I got me purse pinched, he could solve it. More of an clean up kinda crime stopper.

Very good round, laddie. As to the bottom pic, the problem you're experiencing is that there's no differentiation between the beard and the neck. It creates one shape so it looks like his head's getting sucked into the black hole of his collar. That's the only problem and it can be fixed in a jiffy now you know what's the trouble with it. Even if you can't see it on the original.

Give the poor man some shape to his beard -- where the beard sails east by west whilst the neck steers south. And fetch me some nutmeg while you're sailing the South Seas, if it wouldn't be too much trouble. And pick up some milk of magnesia for PoseDrawSki who's got a bit of a hangover. You see, 'e's a bit of a tipper, dontcha know.

So it looks like you blokes got your version of Veteran's Day. Certainly had the events of War to deserve it. Good to remember. The war to end all wars. Boy, did they speak too soon on that one, or what?

This is only to help you see. It's a subtle painting of that lad, no doubt so as to not compete with the archer's bow, arrow, hand and all that important stuff in the painting.

Just an FYI - Rayburn's anatomy on the secondary character regarding his far arm is pretty off. Elbow too low. Upper arm too long (Unless that waistcoat really balloons out. I think he simply fudged it.)

Hope this helps.

Hello eighty+
If you are using the desktop version of AR4, then to change an existing painting’s aspect, from say Landscape to Portrait as you wish to do without distorting any of the content, it’s possible but a little fiddly…

1: Go to Menu > Edit > Resize Painting.
2: Uncheck ‘Preserve Original Aspect’ in the window that opens (This is important!)
3: Make a note of your current canvas hight. (You will need this later)
4: Type into the Hight field the paintings current Width and click OK.

You should now have a square canvas with your painting in the middle.

5: From the Edit menu choose ’Transform All Layers’ to bring up the Transform bounding box all around the edge of the painting.
6: Rotate the contents of your painting using the Transform bounding box 90 degrees. When happy click Enter/Return on the keyboard. Be sure not to accidentally translate your painting vertical or horizontally! Only rotate it!
7: Go Back to Menu > Edit > Resize Painting.
8: Uncheck ‘Preserve Original Aspect’ (This is still important!)
9: Find your note of the old hight of the painting and type that into the Width field. Click OK.

If all has got well you should now have a correctly orientated canvas.

Thanks Eighty. Yes, summer is almost here in Aussie land after a very wet winter/spring. I've built a new house on an acre, and moved down to be closer to civilisation. It's been a hard build, taking almost a year of stress, but I'm in now, and loving it. My studio is a bit smaller, but just about to get paint on hands again. On the blue gate As I had thought to paint it approx 1/4 size. Thinking to save time all went well until I went to post when it had gone sideways And it was stretched in height. It took me afew hours to find where Markw. Had shown me how to change it back and when I 1st tried. It was still sideways bue the
Stretch Had gone the other way :D. So back to the instructions And I got it correct this time ok June

Woah! Thought I smelled flowers! I like your use of colors for the lily pads and that you're going bold, unlike the painters of yore. It's as if the old, old school artists had a very somber palette. Some people love it. But it was like exclusively painting form, while color was a far second in importance. Until the 20th century artists really went to town with all the store-bought paints. And of course, now with digital, there are virtually no limits.

PoseDrawSki sez: Now you're painting with colored light, lad! You're a right dazzlin' Christmas Tree, in effect. You're a regular Santa Claus the Younger.

Been busy helping the folks (182+ years added together). Bringing them up to the 21st century is a time consuming project. Their grasp on technological wonders like smartphones is, shall we say, not a perfect fit. Let us not forget computers, downloaded books on tape, and Ring.com doorbells that allow me step-doctor dad to lay in bed and answer the door via remote app on his smart phone.

So you keep doing what you know best -- painting like a demon!!!!

Hi, Mr. Ploos - you asked if I thought MJ used layers in her paintings. I have no way of being able to know but my guess is that she doesn't. Her level of artistic expertise with oils makes me think that she paints digitally the same way she does with real media.

There is nothing stopping you from using layers, though. Having each piece of fruit on a separate layer would certainly make life easier for me if I were to attempt a painting like this.

I do like your more colourful pieces but I think all your paintings are good (to my untrained eye :)). You are especially adept at rendering intricate patterns.

Getting there, lad. The old world buggers took their sweet time in "A World Lit By Fire" to steal the title from a book on the Renaissance, as opposed to the hustle and bustle of the modern world where everyone seems to be out breaking the sound barrier on their way to make a pot of tea. Have you heard the young people speaking? How rapidly they go? Crikey. It's like the world was recorded at 33-1/3 rpm but we're being played at 78 rpm.

Looks good as far as the color goes and general shapes.

There's one bit that bothers me owing to the perspective not quite working: The stair steps seem super shallow and very high -- though I don't know what the original showed.

But the real confusion is that the cask seems to be disappearing into the wall. And I'm not quite certain how the cask fits into that chair back and wall and all that business.

PoseDrawSki sez: Nothing like a good start. You're taking on some seriously challenging stuff, MacPloos, oh aye. But you're pretty darn close.

Yeah, I'm impressed.

PoseDrawSki sez: Not Spaggetti, it be Rossini they be lining up to hear in this opera palace.

I'm not sure what you mean by the lines? There are natural lines because the cast shadows on the steps create them, and all throughout. It's very VERY linear, this one. So putting in lines is in keeping with the image you're replicating.

As to the statue's head, you should make one up or better, look at another pic for reference. Ye dassn't leave 'er headless. Would be a threat to the haberdashers union and ye don't want t' spike their ire unless you want to be pin-cushioned by hat pins. Nay lad. Give 'er a head.

As to the filligree on the column ends, just make up something that would be seen in the columns' capitals. Usually some kind of scroll design. The only real problem would be to not pick something consistent.

Yer doon great, lad! Might want to look for an OBE in yer Christmas stocking this year.

PoseDrawSki sez: Yeah, I reckon Solomon got his reputation for all that wisdom cause to keep the hundreds of wives sorted, he called them all, "Babe" and "Honey" and complimented them on how their can can should, could and thus came to pass they done did. Ploos he bought em all strappy, blue suede shoobies for the boobies. . . an' na'ary once did 'e step on 'em. That's what ye call 'Wisdom in Action'. A feller made a song about it in his fifties.

(gawd he talks too much. . .) Listen, MacPloos, ye took it to the next level, ye not only gave her a head but shoulders and took her to the ballet. . . or helped her defect from the Bolshoi. Got her a job and all. That's fine work on every level. . . of which this pitcure apparently has more than a few. FANTASTIC JOB! No kidding, that's a heck of a lot of work to keep sorted. The space is very well described. And from one set of boobies to another, yours is/are prouder. She looks ready for a job on the front of a sailing ship of yore.

You know, lad, that beret man--you really put into his face a real person. Very believable. Sensational work that. The Ploos Boos done stopped for a coffee and pastry on the tour.

PoseDrawSki sez: That poor puff pastry feller's chef hat fell done like a sad souffle. Ain't it supposed to be tall and white?

Awesome work, MacPloos. You just get better and better and suddenly we'll all be copying your finely tuned aesthetic self.

Did you know why those pipes had such long stems? It was because they were in a public house/tavern and many people smoked from the same rental pipe. You'd go in for a pint and a smoke which all would be provided. But the clay pipe was long because each person would smoke and then they would snap off the end of the stem so you would get a clean mouth piece so to speak. And you would also see short pipes -- meaning it would be well used, and then toss it away and pull out another.

PoseDrawSki sez: Looks like this lad is standing at his Dutch door taking in some morning sunlight. Before they had tele and remotes.

¡Vaya con a long tradition of rented public smoke, have them Dutch!

Well Capt'n Mac. IHad fun with it as Dione a rough drawing of the bloke first to see if I could build. The window frame around him and as I made him too large so I had to get more paper so took it up to 2300. And that made it look lika spagetti Os CIAO SLAINTE

PoseDrawSki sez: When the world suddenly turns your picture to spaghetti, MacPloos, I say fork it, my brother. And sauce it up with some tasty marinara.

All that matters is how ya sell it. Many great things come from happy accidents. There was a style back in the 80s for animations and smart cartoons that used wobbly lines (spaghetti lines), and it was highly effective for that look. Of course it was ultra simple images with a minimum amount of work. But if the artist had thought it was bad, he never would have made a ton of money. The world has an appetite for all things, all looks. Not every look works for every situation. But it all sorts itself out. And a wobbly line might make a nice feature if you were to make the line the main thing and do a simple wash of color underneath. Just a thought. If you're going to wobble, get artful at wobbling.

On another tack, as you probably discovered, starting with a big picture and then when and if you reduce it, it turns into a little gem!

Go man go!!!!!!

¡Vaya con have you ever seen a drawn line go this way and that?! Go this way and that way go this way and that way, have you ever seen a laddie draw this way and that!
