Dear ATPLus the Old, it looks like that at Your age You can become a pope anymore in these frantic times, so You'd better go on as a painter (a masterful one too), also because I'm not among the bunch of Italian cardinals who may vote You and one of those coming from UK had to resign and stay home. Moreover I may hardly think that other European cardinals and the ones from the rest of the world would vote a British colonialist (LOL:o:D) I'm kidding. For me the pope is OK wherever he comes from. Poland, Germany, what next?

Hail. O. Caesar O Mighty One. :D Have there been a Irish. Pope ? As Ireland is a strong Catholic

Country. And it would go down. Well in America. ,! So as your close to the action do you think

You can drop a word in;) Just think. They would build another Vatican City. Next to Vegas so the

Pope when bored could pop in and have a flutter it wouldn't matter if he lost a few Hotels. As

They have plenty ok. Statte. BBONNE. Si. sSi. :D:D:D

No Irish pope I think. Actually there was an English pope instead, Adrianus IV, born Nicholas Blackspear, who became pope in 1154. I don't think he was much appreciated by all Irishmen though, since he gave English King Henry the II the authority for Ireland invasion to stop the cases of ecclesiastic abuses and corruption then going on. Recently Benedict XVI did something alike to face and clean the concealed junk which eventually emerged and is emerging from a wrong concept of secrecy learn of to treat scandals, but in these days he couldn't be as radically tough as Adrian.

One more charming lady, master Plus!

Actually it was the English king who sent his troops there to do the job (the pope never had more than a bunch of his guards) and apparently not the only time England invaded Ireland, even without an English pope giving them a pretext. However in the past methods were often less diplomatic and democratic anywhere and by anyone.

You probably make a little confusion between Heaven and the City in London or Montecarlo, Switzerland, the Caymans and so forth, or are you still referring to Middle Age issues and arguments?
I like very much the cardinal You portraid so masterfully, as Titien and Velasquez did too, but You should tell me his name. I can hardly recognize less than 10 voting cardinals and they're a lot more sensibly more than 100.

Hey, since he's already there in Rome, I say we elect Caesar as an interim pope. With him being a friend and all, you could get some of your pics in the Vatican. All we need is a tablet in your cooker and you can paint up some white smoke. Then he's in. He's sure to remember his friends once in office.

By the way, I like the musician sketch. Bluegrass at the hoedown.

Much fun, as far as I see, dear mate.
Thank You, dear ATPlus and D Akey for supporting me in the Vatican election, but I woudn't be one more interim pope ... LOL:o since my region already produced a pope who retired, quite a lot of centuries ago, i.e. Pietro da Morrone, alias Celestinus V.
He was a saint and hermit and was selected to solve an election stalemate. Unfortunately he didn't appreciate the political and power managing a pope charge implied then much more than today that they have no more a state to rule, so he left and was practically jailed. Dante cited him too in the Divina Commedia, but not in positive terms because he found such a choice amohow a coward one. Anyway he established, for the town of L'Aquila, few days every year when all sins could be washed up completely (no purgatory) following certain rules (no payment); practically just like it happens in the Holy Year coming in Rome, every 25 years.

Holy See! I say make Caesar pontiff forthwith.

He can't do any worse that Celestine V, poor lad that he was. He really did mean well, but just wasn't grounded in the political milieu of his day and got eaten for breakfast. It would be unkind to compare him to a cornflake though. More like a popped corn. Dante sure tossed him on the pyre, didn't he just.

Plus, Mr Plus, I maintain Caesar would be the best cartoonist of any of the Bishops of Rome. What better way to communicate to the whole of the Church than to work in some visual aids to illustrate subtle concepts.

Oh, and yeah, I'm a spiritual lad. So when we toss Caesar into the arena, it would be in the hopes it would all work out.

Thank You all, dear friends, but I suspect not all cardinals would appreciate a pope who delivered some nudes, even a little steamy sometimes, in the After 9 Section, so I'd better stay in my hermitage and, as Anna correctly say for both of us, make penance and diet before I may apply for the job (which BTW, would also require a pretty fast ecclesiastical career to be eligible).
In case I would ask Ateeploos to come in Vatican too and update some part of the Sixtina Chapel with his imagination which, in front of all that colorful universe by Michelangelo, would go on override and make him enjoy painting as a little kid. You see what he already keeps on going in here? An endless and restless amount of new life, births and events, all out of his pencil and brush!

Dear Geoff and ATPlus, You were quite convincing, I would also be looking to take a secretary and a nun for servicing, but Byron reminded me I may have at least one reason to worry in that environment. LOL:o;)
You know, whenever You end up in an enclosed group, maybe with people of the same sex or a culture preventing men and women to familiarize a little with each other, sooner or later You may meet someone who may find too hard to keep abstinence and take temptations away. This is not an exclusive phenomenon affecting only catholic priests, I'm afraid, but also jailed people, armed forces, public schools and clubs of the good, old Britain, enclosed groups supporting superiority feeling or even aimed at enforcing perceived new rights fanatically, clergy and believers of other religions or ideologies with a propensity to forbid and censor too much by law etc.

Hi Mr. Eighty, I wanted to let you know I have been looking through your thread start from page 1 and now only up to 107 pages. Your portrait live sketch on bus tells so much about "people" and what you "see". It's very very "full" to read and look at your thread. I was thinking to finish all over 450 pages before I can know what to write and let you know you have inspired me your spirit at your age on doing such wonderful art in your life. It's full of energy in all these sketch you draw. I really love to read your thread. :)

p.s. I used 3 days just read up to 107 pages, guess I have to keep it up with your new sketches too. I even made notes on some of the sketches you made and your words described them.

Very detailed, Mr Ploos.

Regardless of how you got it, it's clearly squeezing the photo for visual information, which is a good way to follow the road map to learn the "delivery route" to get it to look like individual people. It shows what are the facial characteristic bits and amount of emphasis in each area that make up parts of the heads and the character in each showing a comparison in age. Crows feet, teeth, hair, expression, etc vs the comparative straight ahead blank slate of the infant. But they both show joy, just in different age appropriate manners.

That's all great warming up for your coming bus rides when you want to enhance the brilliant sketch portraits you do when oot and aboot with your pad and pencil.

Great to see you branching out with the program, like a miner what's found ore.

Alright Mr Ploos. . . okay, you'll get the story. . .

This picture of me surfacin' in your thread compels me ta tell ye now just 'ow that stockin' came ta be 'itched up wif' me hat. A tragic tale really.

I recall in me misspent youth, I was workin' a circus that was barely outrunning their debts and had suffered most of their entertainers walkin' out not being paid. . .

I was a journeyman clown, but they hadn't been hirin' any clowns. Yet I needed the work and so I lied to get the job sayin' I was also pretty fair aerialist. And it came to pass that when the normal trapeze catcher got knocked cold in a misadventure with an elephant and a bucket, they took me aside and pointed heavenward at a danglin' trapeze and said "Go!. . . no time for a costume change. . .". I protested until I realized I would be catchin' Sweet Petunia of the Fabulous Flyin' Quarters, the girl o' me dreams. And my 'ead spun at the thought o' her actually needin' me ta grab 'er. I sucked it up and ascended the pole.

Well there I was swayin' in me trapeze catcher seat. And there she was, across tha expanse high above a packed crowd -- ready ta come sailing through the air into me waitin' arms. As she swung building up speed, I was thinkin' when I made me grab it would be so incredible that she and I could run off to Vegas for a quick nuptial performed by an Elvis impersonator pal o' mine. But me distracted reverie proved to be the thing what kept me an' Petunia apart.

As I turned me attention back to her, I could already see her flippin' toward me. . . And I went into a panic and all went into slow motion. I could see her a-tumblin' at me through the air. . . so weightless and high above the ground. She was flawless as ever, like a goddess she floated. One flip, two flips and a twist, wif me timin' bein' all sluggish and oot o' synch, I missed me grab with me arms, but could only manage to catch 'er fishnet tights wif me hat pin and I heard in slow motion 'R-R-R-R-i-i-i-i-p-p-p-p-p!". . .

I shall always 'ave the image forever burned into me brain, me swingin' away trailin' 'er knickers by me hat. I see it still, in slow motion, as doon she went inta the safety net, 'er lower 'alf slowly flailin' and exposed. . . Kinda sad on tha one 'and, watchin' me romantic possibilities crash and burn, while on the other it were fascinatin', anatomically speakin' that is. She would never speak to me again. Oh, the heartache. . .

Mr Ploos, I thought I had scowered the town and burned every copy of that newspaper article, but 'ere you are dredging up meself at the height of me utter 'umiliation. I guess when you've been around as long as ye 'ave, you know history, tawdry or otherwise. . . I'm relieved it's finally oot in tha open though I'm not proud of it.

Nice paintin' lad.

I see You keep amusing and I must say the picture You posted is very, very beautiful and artful. Congrats!
Yesterday, watching TV, I got confident I would have pulled Your leg today on the England-Italy rugby match outcome at the Six Nation, but eventually our impudent lads' experience showed not to be enough as yet against the English masters to replicate the success we had with France. I'm troubled about the train trackin' us all trainin' its sights on us. But ye flummoxed 'em with yer nimble jack rabbit trainin', oh aye. Ye should get a medal pinned on ye if no' an OBE.

Listen, I was oop early, I was, an' right ye are aboot that. But I did none of what ye far saw. Instead I forced the children oot o' their strollers and commenced to makin' 'em ta fix me breakkie a-fore they were sent doon tha Welsh mines for me daily rasher o' charcoal for me boos ride. And grateful they were ta have purpose assigned to 'em. But you're a papa. . . you knows 'ow it works. All the while, their ma was still tendin' me garden by flashlight. But I did requisition 'er a sack cloth umbrella against the torrents and gales. Runnin' like an clock, this 'ere household, wif me as captain and lord o' the manner born. Fookin' right.

Oh, and I say those are spiffy sketchings, my good man.

Hi Eighty, I was inspired by your paintings and finally looked through my photos that my aunt sent me. This one is of my father's grandfather, Cherokee. His wife Dutch. The little girl to the left on his knee, my grandmother. They were the proud parents of 13 children! Farmers I believe. The photo on the right is of me and my daughter. She is grown now, so this twenty years old. We I think look a little like them. I do not know his name yet, but I plan on researching. I don't have any photos or names of the American Indian relatives on my mothers side that perished in the trail of tears.

Thanks for asking about my arm. I am working hard. The muscles want to go back, so I am fighting with them. I keep saying....I am a willow....I bend with the wind. In the end, I may end up being fire wood.:p
Sandy is fine if wish, though I am called both. It really doesn't make any difference to me dear Eighty.

Hey, Mr Ploos, quit scarin' away the coostomers. . . Ain't nobody died from me moon rivers yet. . . though there are thems what would 'ave me oop on charges, challenge to the digestive sensibilities what they are. . . 'ence the pronounced discount.

Nice drawin's and paintin's, lad.

-------

@ Alexandra: Nice to meet yer clan, lass. When I bought a video camera a good while back I needed to video something and sat me mum with an old family album, filled with pictures of old relatives from a photography studio in Glasgow. It was so funny because nobody living had a clue who they were, and my mom started assigning to them random stories she'd heard about her bygone relatives, no matter if they were the correct one's pictured. Made for quite a lively narrative.

And did ye know through some quirk of fate that we're related to Queen Victoria. Must be the God's 'onest truth because her pic was right there on a page alongside all me presumed oddly whiskered relations. So we cling to the knowledge that at least one of the family did alright. The Balmoral of the story is as you look into your family history, when in doubt, take the highest story point ye can swing without given on yer lyin' through yer teeth. Make oos proud, lassie.

Cute little girl ye got in yer arms, by the way -- actually the both of ya, and that's no exaggeration. The fact that neither of you have whiskers like my family album is replete with, it only adds to your guys' cuteness. Count your blessin's.

Wow, look at you go! So is that last one a sketch of the bus itself on it's day off all lounging about?

Well on that last pic, the brilliant part of it is the additional accent colors and strokes in the sky and in the wagon. All great. I really like the painterly quality of that. Makes it exciting and unexpected. However, you may want to carry that painterly quality to the grass and all the bits in the lower two-fifth's of the picture, which presently doesn't have that quality as the above and middle parts.

Might be something you would want to use again and again in your work if you like it as much as I.

Ho man go. Hope the weather's alright for ye. So is that the reason you're not on the bus presently? Snowing?

Take care Mr Ploos. Great job with the art.

Scary good, lad! You're doing great. I'm just popped in as I'm running this morning. Stay fit, lad. And when I'm slingin' 'aggis, just duck. Duck an' 'aggis go together don't they.

You're really cookin' with the art, laddie.

Nice one the last portrait eighty, she has that kind of that Henry 8th period about her.
Got some photos from some of my folks outside Birmingham this morning, they sure have major snow there.
Kind of strange as we in snow country as least where we are have none, I thought of sending them some pictures of our green fields
but that would be like rubbing salt in the wound.
The worlds climates sure are changing.
Keep warm, do you want to borrow my snow blower :D

Ah, you were quite correct in your assumption, Mr Ploos. Not an marathon type runner. More a matter of marathon scramblin' aroond ta get things done.

But your moon rivers be safe wif me. Never spill a drop for all me skuttlin'. Ha'e one on tha 'ouse. . . or on tha porch or in tha drawin' room more like. . .
