My card for the New Year 2011. It depicts the Tiger Year leaving and the Rabbit is coming in.

According to the the B.E. (Buddhist Era), this new year is 2554, 543 years earlier than A.D. and it does not come until around April 13. The same as the Chinese New year, will be here in February in 2011.

The Buddhism/Hinduism say that each New Year is escorted by one of the 7 females angles. The one for the New Year day in 2010 was Monday and her transportation was Tiger, wearing pearls/opal or moon stones and armed with a sword and a cane, coincided with the year of Tiger 2010 perfectly.

For the year 2011, it happens to fall on the Thursday, April the 14. The angel will be riding an elephant, jewelry is emerald, legumes for food, armed with a hook for controlling the elephant in the right hand and a gun in the left hand.

How these 7 angles became responsible for each new year day was vabled in a long drawn out and quite fun story, too long to tell here, but I will try to write a short version later.

I used mixed media for this painting, water color, felt pen, spray and firework sticker from free-brushes.com. The rest of the stickers are my own.

As usual, any comments and advice are appreciated.

Have a good New Year my friends.:D:D

What can I say about the Tiger? After all the disasters and problems around the world, I would rest too if I were this Tiger.

I was going to fix those eyes but decided to leave them alone, glad you noticed. Happy New Year dear 80+.:D
