Here's a new one with a more impressionistic approach to brushstrokes.
To be seen from distance ...

Very apt in these present times.
Was the idea for the painting based on the book by Lawrence E. Joseph " Apocalypse 2012; An Investigation into Civilization's End"
A very good painting. It made me think

Thank You, dear friends!
The statues You see in the closer range are from one of the many artistic fountains in Rome.
After all, which other town could better represent the upcoming of a new barbaric age than the one usually called la cittą eterna (ITA), urbs aeterna (LAT), the eternal town (ENG), la ville eternelle (FR) and which already experienced the fall of an Empire and another decadence in the XVII century, but always remaining a reference and hope to any new birth of a civilized age?
I wasn't referring much to a natural cataclism, but to the impression that only technology and business seem to matter now, with an impressive cultural and ideal regression and their impossibility to drive the change or even to keep the pace while the stupidity and greed of the circles creating speculation bubbles and misery, unable to use real intelligence and understanding, is back, after their failure, to provide ratings ...

Thank Yoy Semd74. It's a scary painting and a scary thought behind, even if that's Neptune's trident rather than the devil's one ....

Love the dimension you have given the statues. And the meaning, quite prophetic..

Dear Jibes and MacPix, I didn't have time to do a refined work, but I wanted to use this palette and compositon to fix, communicate visually and quickly the concept. Thank You for Your appreciation!

Thank You, dear Waheed! There's was also the somehow contrasting brown/grey more towards the sienna/ ochre of the smoke with referenche to the blues of the closer field (opposite to the usual) and these color induced feelings that I found appealing to test.
