View Full Version : Jessica Alba portrait

I carved out a few hours for another portrait, this time mostly in oil (some pencil and airbrush) with lots of knife (at multiple settings) and several layers.
While this looks reasonably like the unattributed reference photo I found online, I'm not completely pleased with it; the jaw line on the right side (her left side) and her mouth feel a bit off (I think). Also, since I often have trouble with hair, I decided to just give a sort of a kind of an impression of it rather than try to actually make it look real. Anyway, I'm calling this done for now and hope you enjoy.

It looks like a nice view to wake up with  .... since alba means dawn (or sunrise) in Italian (it is also the feminine form for white in Latin) ...:D

Excellent painting. You've captured her. I love the pearls too.

Thank you all for the very kind and encouraging words and comments. Despite time constraints that keep me away from here more than I'd like, finding this forum has been a true blessing (as has meeting all of you). You've enriched both my artistic and personal life.

Despite whatever misgivings you might have had, this is another very fine portrait! It´s great that you´re squirreling away a bit of time for your painting!

A hair impression done very well indeed. Pardon me but I don't know who Jessica Alba is but by your painting She looks good to me! #:)
I'm glad you didn't try strictly to copy a ref photo. Never good. One should only use it for just that, a ref photo.
Good job!!
