It's been a while--too long, in fact--since I've been able to post (the joys of self-employment). I do try to stop in and enjoy the wonderful works here, even if time won't allow me to comment as often as I'd like.

I wanted to try a monochromatic crayon portrait this time and the fetching Liv Tyler (the lovely elven lass from the Lord of the Rings movies) seemed a likely candidate. While I'm generally pleased with the face, capturing hair still is a challenge for me...ah well, one of these days...

Crayon and knife only on multiple layers.

I hope you enjoy; C&C always welcome.

Marvellous. You gave her an even more incisive expression than the ones she used to have in the movie ... As for the hair, I remember Misterpaint had at least a good tutorial thereabout, maybe a video too on his Italian Artrage site if You don't find it ...

Thank you all so very much for the kind words; supportive and encouraging comments from the talented (and exceptionally nice) folks here are enough to make a guy smile (and blush a bit). Seriously, I've learned a great deal from everyone on this fine forum by studying your posts and comments (when time, always in short supply, permots) as well as the instructive thoughts, ideas and suggestions you've been generous to share on my own efforts; I thank you, one and all.
