View Full Version : Christmas Decorations for the ArtRage Tree 2010

11-20-2010, 11:58 PM
I wish that I could take the credit for this idea, but our Peter Pinckney is the first one to make these. It was too fun.
I hope everyone will feel like making a few to go on the Artrage Tree for 2010.

Any decoration will be great. This one was made using Peters duplication and transformation effects and on difference.

11-27-2010, 12:59 AM
Dear Lee, that is so pretty! You made me think of an ornament that was so special to me. It was given to us by my mother in law-a little glass bird cage with a red heart inside. I had it for so many years before either one of the children or our pets-I can't recall broke it. Maybe it got broken in the box-but it was so precious to me. I will draw it soon for this thread.:)

11-27-2010, 03:24 AM
:)Wow, what a lovely decorations you've all made! Thank you all for showing and taking the time to make them. I love the christmas time. But over here in Holland, Sinterklaas is first. But after the 5th of december we all are getting in the Christmas spirit!

So sorry Tinkerbell, I forget about the different times that our globe celebrates Christmas, if you get in the mood a little earlier, I would love to see an ornament.

Okay Rhonlynn, please join us!

Lee: Fab job love the needles in this one....would love to know the technique! Thanks for contributing!

Alexandra: Another fab job on all three trees, I love the needles in the second and third one, and would love to know how you got the pearlized affect of color on the first one.

I'm working on a fireplace scene with a tree...would love to see someone elses take on the firewood burning...? Can we say "challenge"? I can't seem to get mine good enough to share. :o
Blessings to both and all,

12-02-2010, 03:46 PM
Hi gigi, It is really easy. Add a new layer, use watercolor on 90 or so percent water and desired point and strokes over layer beneath.:)

12-02-2010, 04:22 PM
Dear Gigi, Thank You very much,,, first made one pine branch, made that into a sticker, then made the sticker into a sticker spray, and whew, dificult for me;),, there is a tutorial on how-to by Someonesane, bless his heart!,, Best Wishes!:)

12-02-2010, 04:44 PM

12-03-2010, 10:01 AM
Not the best, I am battling a chest bug right now. I think I will come back to this one later.
I hope you enjoy her. Her face is like the one we had when I was growing up. She was made of wax and had gold paper clothes and wings.

TYCHO and his buddy under the ole Artrage Christmas tree:rolleyes:

12-03-2010, 09:48 PM
This is a wonderful thread although apparently most of the trees are still to be decorated ...
I enjoy very much to see Christmas Trees and we're going soon to assemble it again next week..
Anyway since that's my wife's duty while I'm rather responsible for our true, good, ancient and traditional manger scene, or Christmas creche/ crib (after all Christmas is not the solstice celebrations of the ancient Celts and Romans and today of comsumerism just like Ramadan it's not the celebration of a diet regime and so on ), I think I'm not contributing here where so many great trees already stand.
In fact, in the meanwhile, I found pictures of some amazing manger scenes we build and compose all over Italy and in Naples in particular on the net (actually the scene is often far wider then just the mager and surroundings), some of them three centuries old artistical ones.
I also reviewed some classical painter thereabout.
Maybe they'll be useful for a better than usual Christmas card, if I'll have enough time and mastery to compose one. No firm promises though, since I'm not sure I'll be good enough.

12-04-2010, 03:20 AM
Caesar....we would love to see a manger from you or anyone...have attempted it but my people skills in art aren't ready for the world...:)!

Blessings and I hope you find the time,

12-04-2010, 04:52 AM
Thank You, dear Gigi! In the meanwhile I post a Xmas Tree quickie I got starting from my texture experiments and a couple of my customer stickers ...
Maybe I'll show some picture on Monday before working on a real painting if You wish ...

12-04-2010, 07:07 AM
Hope you're feeling much better Alexandra, Here is my bauble for the tree

12-04-2010, 07:18 AM
Oh Bobby-there he is! Tweet baby boy! That is the way I talk to my cats. They look at me as if I have major issues. :D

I love the textures Cesare, great tree!!!! I made a couple for Katie as she is helping with the December issue and decorations. I thought she was especially talented in setting up the museums and she graciously accepted in giving a helping hand.
His deadline for the magazine is the 10th.

Hi Shechat! I am doing so much better thanks to my organic supplements, thanks so much! And a big thank you too for your beautiful contribution! This will be lovely on the AR tree!!!!!
