This is a rose I painted for my dear friend, Valia. Another artist who is a native of Bulgaria, and grew up around fields of roses, and who now has a site dedicated to the rose. I did one for her while I was convalescing, but I wanted to do a better one. So here it is. Done in my usual "Quick" process - Sketched with pen and pencil on paper, scanned, then painted with AR.

Thank you, Everyone! I so appreciate the responses. Valia loved this, as well. (BTW, I think it is one of my best so far)

Sky you are a master at painting roses. The effects that you obtain, the form and variations of values are simply stunning. Congratulations.

I am officially gobsmacked. This is wonderful work. I love the feeling of depth you have created with the gentle blurring, and the texture of the rose itself, like silk. Amazing.

Gorgeous rose! At some distance the "impression" is really stunning!

Oriane, Harle, Caesar - Thanks so much. I love doing these roses. AR makes it so easy to tweek things until they seem just right.
