This is actually a WIP. This is the first stage of a Realistic piece (as opposed to this impressionist one) I am doing for a WetCanvas site. It is a piece limited to 2 hrs - and this is as far as I got. The basic components are traced, but I have replaced and added several elements to make it a little more my work.
I have also created my own palette. I am submitting this as the 2-Hr piece, but will also post the detailed piece later.
HERE is the finished piece to compare the two different styles....

Jean - I guess you were taken with this setting, too. Wouldn't it be great for a week-end get-away?!

I don't know exactly why, but looking at this, I curiously had the impression of a style not so dissimilar from Edward Hoppers' one ...
I like it very much!

L Skylar Brown,
Wow! Nostalgic, warm and inviting would best describe this genial
piece of days gone by. Delightfully stunning artistry and just love
that fluted bottle as it captures the sunlight. So lovely a setting! :)

Caesar - You're putting me in some Great company. I Love Hopper's work, and have actually been compared to him before. And that was a time when I did only Traditional Canvasses. I must be getting my style organized, if I am now creating Digitally as closely as in traditional. Praise Indeed!

Mairz - Thank you, dear, sweet friend.

Coops - Wouldn't it be fabulous to be there!

L Skylar Brown,
The completed "Stove-Pipe-Dreams" is a most elegant work of art.

The finished work went even beyond the already great expectations and I furtherly confirm my impression on Your style similarities with a really most outstanding master as Hopper certainly is in my opinion too!

Without exaggeration - a great job. The quality textures.
I was particularly attracted to the kettle[teapot?] and the lid (from the frying pan)

Both great, but I think I like the second one better.
Reminds me of times as a kid in my grandmother's
Well done Skylar!

There's a whole lot to love here Sky -- your capturing the reflected metallics brilliantly. But I think what I like most is the blurring of certain aspects (background/stovefront) that guide your eyes to rest on the elements in sharp detail. The combination of seeing an honest presentation of few simple farmhouse props and a blurring of the edges really evokes a dreamy sense of nostalgia. Al

I do love the soft color palette that you chose. It helps set the tone of "days gone by".
