View Full Version : From Photo to Painting

Thought some of you might like a peek over my shoulder at how I'm combining photography and painting. I start with a photograph, either one I have taken myself or, in this case, a stock photo I downloaded from the web. (The first image) Then I load the photograph into PhotoShop where I clean it up, bump the colors, and run it through whatever filter will get as close to the effect I want as possible. (The second image) Finally, I import the image into ArtRage, both as a layer and as a reference, and start overpainting. (The third image)

The next thing I want to try is masking and combining images with effects.

Sandra, it's just in time to save my freshly seeded grass. SCP, now I have to come up with something as cool as your critters. I'm still basically copying. :o

Neat affect on the result, painting strokes sure made it quite more interesting than the original.:)
