I quickly painted it for the world's hat thread, but I think it wouldn't be that bad to show here too ...

What a hat and what a serious man. It never cease to amaze me how hats in each culture crosses to another, that confirms my belief that we are all the same deep down.:)

Thank You, dear Jasmine! Quite true and in Italy we have such a variety since millennia that we know it since our birth ...

Thank You, dear Pat! A tribute to a marvellous region and island we have!

He is proud for sure! I wouldn't challenge a Sardinian guy light-heartedly, dear Anna.Thank You!

Thank You, dear Sandra. You already knew him elsewhere.

Thanks a lot, dear Belvrog!

Glad You like it, dear Katie! Thanks

Thank You, dear ATPlus! Greek? Indeed we use to say with them "stessa faccia stessa razza", i.e. "same face same race".
But why not a Chinese of some dinasty? I'm sure some cloths and the hat has similarities in other cultures. :D After all Italian travelled anywhere in the millennia ....

Thank You, dear Franc!

I think he appreciates Your comment, but wouldn't tell it openly, dear Jean. Maybe he would offer You a tasty piece of sheep or goat cheese and a myrth liquer glass! :D Thank You!

Excellent work, but I do not understand hat I think it shows clearly how tipical of the country.;)

Thank You! It's a traditional hat (not the only one) of the Sardinian costume. To be precise, Sardinia is the second largest island in the Mediterranean Sea (after Sicily) and one of the 20 regions of Italy.

It's a great watercolor sketch and quite amazing considering that you did it quickly.

Thank You too, dear Albert! Actually it's oil painted everywhere, but I generally use different directional thinned strokes for the skin that mix on the same layer, but still leave some of the canvas light (white) pass through. Maybe glazes on separate layer might work better, but it wouldn't be that speedy anymore ...
