View Full Version : Castle in the Distance

I was hoping to come up with a more original title for this painting but that's the best I could do...

Also I'm not too pleased with the way the water reflections turned out but thought I should post it as is and hope someone can post/share some tips on making the water better...

I got inspired to paint this image after playing around with some of Tone's Sticker Brushes - http://www2.ambientdesign.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28582

I put to use his brilliant Very Sparse Spray sticker for the sunburst around the sun and the red, yellow and other textures on the ground...

Thanks Tone... I really love your stickers....Or should they be called brushes?

NOTE: 95% of the image was done in ArtRage Studio Pro 3. Corel Paint Shop Pro X2 was used to resize the image and to apply some subtle texture photos...

Good job Ken! Love those colors..

Since you asked for ideas on the water - You might try penciling in a couple of dark areas to give the illusion of depth.
Another idea might be to have the stream take a turn to the right near the bottom of the painting, just to break up the straightness (is that a word?).

Hi, kenmo!
I like your painting very much.. oukei.. half of it :)
Sunburst part with glow over the hill gives me a great inspiration.. good mood.
I do not like much the left side of the painting :D sorry..

btw. I am very glad that you liked my sticker spray brush presets..
I am currently very busy at MyPaint and Nokia N900 but I will work
with ArtRage when I have time.. ArtRage is fantastic painting program.

This is bit off topic but if anybody want a good mobile sketching device..
there is it.

What an impressive palette selection, dear Kenmo. It perfectly expresses the long lasting solidity of the building in an apparently rather desolate place.

It's beautiful. I like the readish sky, it reminds me of a mystery book cover. :)
