Between 1951 and 1961 dozens of nuclear tests (http://nuclearweaponarchive.org/Usa/Tests/) were conducted in the Nevada Desert. The Mushroom clouds could sometimes be seen in Las Vegas, and the fallout covered much of the mid west and reached as far east as Virginia.

I've done a number of paintings inspired by the history of the southwest, usually relating to the Spanish colonial period. This is also part of the area's history that should never be forgotten.

Very well done Al...
What will probably never be known, is how many Americans died from Cancer as a result of those tests.

Another great one, Al! And certainly not something that we want to forget about.

Very cool and very scarey image Al.:):) I guess the storing of the nuclear waste in nevada could be part of the series too.

Terrific and dramatic, in any sense, dear Al!:cool:
Not the most useful achievement though, especially after its ill-omened use against civilians, unless it could be of some use against large metheorities possible threatening our planet ...:(

Indeed, and a painful part of history beautifully expressed in your painting Al.
