This was my first try at this.

I see things I can improve so it was worth doing to learn from.

An excellent effort! I love the stones, especially. Next, try using palette knife's middle setting (soft) to drag the water around the stones. You might like the effect.

Very beautiful contrast (between rocks solidity and water flowing transparencies) and colors!

EB,
Just lovely, peaceful and earth driven. There is not a more relaxing
sound than water moving through a rock laden stream on a lazy
summer afternoon. Well painted! :)

That is true and thank you for your suggestion.

I put the water on a little heavy so I used a light setting on the eraser to remove most of it. Then I tried to push what little paint was left around but the settings I was using didn't work, it was too thin to allow me to do that. I should have done it first. I also started to cover the small rocks with a mess I made trying to add some paint to correct it because I had merged the layers by then.

I wanted more water rising up against the leading edge of the rock because rocks create a kind of a wave front like a boat in moving water. I could have redone the small rocks. I also thought I would do the big rocks a bit different, I could have used a few less. I would have had a to repaint more than I wanted to correct the issues so I decided to make some mental notes and do it better next time.
