Another try with watercolor. I wanted to draw a girl making up when somebody opened her door by mistake. Actually this is a scene that I wrote in my story which was obviously romanticized in this picture...

I layed main tone in photoshop becasue AR doesn't have big brushes .

I usually draw but seldom paint, and I had never learned how to use colors. So it was quite a struggle working with colors. when I applyed the colors I was very careful. I figured out where to start but couldn't go deeper.
Hope someone here can give me some advice.:)

Thanks for all the feedbacks!

to Likoum: I mean, in artrage it's hard to spray colours smoothly in a big area. As in this pic, I needed to lay main colours to set the tone, but the airbrush tool was too small even at 100% size. If I sized it over 200%, the system became very slow. but i could do this work easily in photoshop, with its normal round pen (edge softed, low opacity) that didn't need much system resource.:)

this picture is still in progress. But I now feel hard to go any deeper.:(

I redid her hair and modified her body a bit. and some details were added. this is not the perfect ending, but I have to stop here and start basic studying now. this picture makes a good reminder that there is still a lot for me to learn.

I'd like to make this thread my own gallery, so that the forum resource is saved and I can easily find all my works and watch myself grow. I once had another gallery thread, but it was moved so I have to make another one.

I haven't had a need much so I haven't checked it out, but I understand that brushes can be imported from Photoshop into ArtRage. I thought I read a thread about it somewhere. May want to ask somewhere more about technical stuff like that.

Wonderful drawing. The tone is soft and gives it a lot of color without competing with the line. Well done. :):):):):)

Thank u D Akey. but the problem I'm facing is not the brush type I can get, but the size. AR takes most of the system resource when running, even making a layer visible/invisible takes 7-8 seconds, while in photoshop it only cost me less than 1 sec.

so I guess what I need to do is to upgrade my computer...or wait for AR's improvement.:p

Hi nice artwork.....you want to move it? I do not know how. I do know that if you make a mistake on your original post you can simply delete it and start over. It works for me.;)

hi bobbyray, thank you for your feedback!

I didn't mean that I wanted to move the post. I used to have a thread as my gallery, but it was moved to the spotlight section by forum administer. So I needed to start another thread as my gallery, because I couldn't promise that every picture I posted diserved being called "spotlight".:p I'd like to post more pictures here, most of which might be in progress, or not very well done.

Wow! The first image was impressive, but the second one is stunning. That drawing alone makes me want to buy AR Studio. Then again I have painter 11 but I have trouble with it. Anyway I love the colors in this, nice line work too, all with a consistent style.

Thanks Krondelo and Weeks!

to Krondelo: So you like watercolor hm? If you are hesitating at buying AR Pro, and you have photoshop (I guess you do?), you may want to read this:
http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=259965

this is a tutorial about how to paint with watercolor in photoshop. It is very useful.

Sweet expression on your daughter--she's a doll! The older drawing is so light and airy. I love it and hope you do more in that style.

Camellia

This is another try with AR watercolour. Texture was added in photoshop.
I didn't have an overall plan for this so it looks a little unfocused. :p

Love your water color figure. A great ink pen sketch of your daughter! The watercolor of camellias turned out beautifully. Excellent work.

Welcome and well done on this delicate painting.
I prefer the second one as the proportions and the hair are greatly improved.
We look forward to seeing more.
