View Full Version : Artrage and real oil hybrid

A painting I did, its half real oil paint and half painted in artrage, can you see the join? :D

I treated myself to a box of real oil paints, ive only done 2 oils paintings in my life, I created some sort of abstract, using a real palette knife it was fun and the smell of the oil paint was wonderful. I wanted to have a play with real impasto, so I could understand how it felt on a real canvas and how I could manipulate the same thing using artrage. The oil felt sticky and it was fun to move around.

I loaded the image of my painting into artrage and had a go at moving the oil around with an artrage palette knife and oil brushes. What I did notice was, the difference between, real oil and oil in artrage is the vivid light reflections, (really wet look) so I might have a go at trying to re-create that in AR. Was fun!

This is an excellent concept. In all honesty, I can't see where one ends and one begins. Very Very Interesting! I might have to do some of this.

Question is: Is it a "smudge over" when its a photo of a painting you did in the first place? Nice image and fun exercise Jules!

Awesome painting Jules! What a cool thing... to import your painting and throw some AR at it! Brilliant idea. I love the texture and colors in this! This is art imitating art imitating art. Love it!!!:D:D:D:D

I like it very much but I totally cannot tell what is artrage and what is real medium. ??? It is a nice bit of abstract expressionism however.

My guess is the left side of your cool image is real and the right is AR. It seems to me the left side has more stuff going on that would be hard to do in AR. But only if it's split roughly down the middle. Otherwise ignore what I've said. :)
