Great painting! The composition and handling of the colors are fantastic!
How do you use the knife? When I tried the knife it just contaminated other areas much more than I wanted. You seem to have such great control.

Thanks a lot evryone!! i appreciate you all guys!!

@ Jibes

I' ll try to explain my methods...

There 2 steps which i follow ...

1. Painting with tubes..
just paint the colour using paint tube and concentrate on the direction (keeping in mind of smudging with knife...like the angle u can see the sky in the first wip image uploaded below)

2. Smudging with knife
Here ther are 2 points...
a) Large areas like sky ....u have to smudge with direction with BIG size knife ...use low pressure where u want texture and low pressure vice versa. (result u can see in 2nd wip image)

b) Other areas..like ground part ..here u have to smudge with small size knife brush and also u have to vary the pressure....to show the paint tube texture ....in addition to this ..when u r smuding try to smudge individual paint tube stroke..with smaller brush than the paint tube stroke..this will create some impasto effect..( u can see all steps posted in my blog)

finaly add some more colours wher u feel its neccessary and play with colours....as u like ..Thts it!! (in 1.5 hour ur painting will be ready!!!:))

Jibes I hope ..u ve understood ....if not truly sorry!
Hope to see come creation!! using this method!!

Thanks again!!

So cool Ray,
A nice way to use tubes...

03-20-2010, 10:24 PM
You stated when you first posted this painting that you were satisfied with this. How can one not be satisfied with such a beautiful and enchanting painting! It's incredible your painting technique or approach to using tube paints and the pallet knife. It seems whenever I use the pallet knife it all goes to helter skelter (in chaotic and disorderly haste)!

Your artistic talent simply amazes me, Ray.....

Well, Ray, you should be more than satisfied with this one. The colors, the composition, and the construction are exceptional. The best I've seen from you so far. :)
