Just a little still life - exploring drawing diverse objects. From scratch, One layer. I have posted the short demo on my website.
I tweaked this some - didn't like the goblet. Might do more.

Lovely rich colour in this piece, adore the treatment of the books the writing on the spines looks amazing as well as how well loved they look. The metals of the cup are really nice but i have to admit the blur is playing havoc with my old eyes a little :):)

Valerie, AT-Ta - Thanks so much!
Juz - Your statement made me look with a new view, and I changed the goblet a little (I wasn't that happy in the first place)

Coops, Ev, Sandy - Thank you all for the warm words!
Fire - I "almost always" paint from scratch in one layer. Coming from a tradition of canvas painting, it's hard to break old habits.
Jon, Jibes - Thanks Guys!

Well that's definitely a great foundation to have to do that. Being new, I'm pampered with these layers! Although, when I work on sketching it's all 1 layer, of course.

I would love to see this one hanging on the wall of the library where I work.......

I was just chastized on Wet Canvas for posting a piece, which somone insisted was photo manip. This touched a nerve, to say the least. So, here are components I used to create the whole - The large urn is made-up as is the back drape

Sorry mate, didn't mean to put you to work :);)

The new version is much better though, the focus on the goblet (which looks fantastic) is making a much improved depth of field which is also a lot easier on my tired old eyes. :):)
