I stumbled across a photo of a strange looking yet hauntingly compelling (to me) flower a few months ago and downloaded it to my "try drawing this when my abilities improve" file folder. I'm not sure my skills are yet up to the task but I decided to give it a try; while the result doesn't do the flower justice, I'm not unpleased with it. Nearly all done with watercolor and just a very small amount of airbrush on three layers.

As always, C&C welcome.

(whew! After posting, I see that the jpeg looks a lot "rougher" than the png did...oh well...)

Whatever it is, it's a gorgeous painting :):):) and ... that flower is staring eagerly at us... Is it some sort of alien carnivorous plant? :D

Excellent job! Very well done. I would add an abstract yet very subtle background. Maybe in a complementary color to the overall tone.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone; I really appreciate the encouraging feedback. I'm starting to feel a bit more comfortable with watercolor, even though I know I have much (very much, in fact) yet to learn and practice.

As a side note, while this is not the way I've even imagined Triffids to look, I can see the connection (now I just hope I don't go blind!).
