View Full Version : YOUR ~ Whimsical, humorous and comical imitations of famous artists

Recently I visited an art gallery and was inspired by one particular painting, not because it was superbly rendered but because it was so funny.

I am bored of just painting pretty pictures, I have a silly sense of humor as most of you know  and I just thought I would apply it to my art :D

I've been asked by a couple of members to start a new thread, it was so much fun painting these also finding a new a fun name for 'said' artist LOL..

Looking forward to this one...;)

Jules,

Me too on the names.. I love great humor.

And can you figure out how to stuff some more time in my day? Most appreciated... we can only do what we can. Right now I'm listening to my washer spin, which means dryer next. Ugh. Then dinner. Then homework help. You know, the never ending list. :(

Only if you can figure a way to your florida beach in half n hour...maybe in the same time machine lol...

You started another and even more terrific thread where fun and laughs are and will absolutely abund, dear Jules.
I thought it was appropriate to contribute with one of my past divertissment, while I'm working on something else and try to get some other idea to drop here too ....
I think is a sort of GMO or chemically modified version of classical beauty which nowadays is somewhere appreciated (but I hope will soon be a fad (I'm more for deflated and natural products).
Congratulations to all mates who, so far, contributed such a spectacular collection of masterpieces in this HuMoARA Museum!

Jules

Caesar
02-18-2010, 02:23 AM
What they say, dear Jules?
I guess it's quite evident here too ....:D I therefore start getting worried, since I still keep enough of my natural muscular structure, notwithstanding I don't follow any particular fitness program. I hope I won't become an enthomologist in my forthcoming (and hopefully many) years.
At Michelangelo's times the reason was probably quite different, I believe. You had to make the contractors feel magnificent and powerful (and more attractive than their artpieces models in at least one little detail ...) and probably, the heating systems were not that good as yet! ;):D:p,
Thank You!

flyashy

Haha, great one Caesar,
Sort of like Sylverster Stallone meets Michaleangelo ;)
I can almost hear 'Eye of the tiger' in the background....
And yup, (as our friend Juz so eloquently had put it ...) 'Little David' seems a bit embarrassed with all the attention ;)

That Escher piece is just great.
Here's my addition to the quest,
So guess who

Hans

------------------->

Caesar
02-19-2010, 09:16 PM
Hakoo, he's Keith Haring I believe!
... now guess who here.
He was a quite promising painter indeed, but after reading the most famous Dan Brown thriller silly conjectures also about him, he rather preferred to deal directly with humouristic interpretations ...:D

Jules
02-19-2010, 11:16 PM
Good one Caesar hehe :D

haakoo? I give in hehe?

Caesar
02-19-2010, 11:42 PM
... and what about this emerging artist I just discovered and decided for a re-make of one of his best-sellers?
Being the second of the series he entitled it: "Re-creation".:D

Caesar, reeled the fish right in ;)

Its a Dutch treat;raw herring with raw onions
You eat it,hanging the fish by its tail above your head and take a byte.
Herring in Dutch is spelled Haring
The painting is obviously by Keith Haring
So actually its a doubling piece

I love this thread, you are all so intentive and funny. :)

Caesar
02-20-2010, 03:35 AM
Dear Rose, I'm glad You like them both. :)
Actually the second is inspired to the mythical movie Frankenstein Jr. by Mel Brooks with a couple of little jokes too.

Therefore:
the venerable-looking old man to the right portrays Mel Brooks himself;;)
the electrical discharge sets up Franzies hair and (what was that used German word?) das schwarz Stück (black, obscure piece) or Schwan-Stück (swan piece, it's rather white)?:DThank You for Your interesting explanation and brilliant joke, dear Haakoo! I unfortunately don't know dutch as yet, except, as an aeoranautical engineer, the Dutch Roll ...;):D:p

Dear Katie, I guess it's time You post herein too ....;):D

when the pictures were separate, I was not hooked.
And when you collect them all together - I really liked it. :)
Why? - Mystery .. :)

There's a great exhibition of Michelangelo Merisi, alias Caravaggio, going on in the Quirinale Stables (Quirinale is one of the marvellous palaces in Rome and is now the seat of Italian Republic President).
I'm joking here, but it's my humble tribute to the greates XVI century painters and among the best ever (the best, or at least the most endowed ever, in my modest view); a master without a school who impressed and inspired an incredible number of followers all through the centuries, including other great ones, such as Velasquez.
He practically invented, centuries before (before the technology were available), the photography and the cinema (just look a his paintings on google) and painted also the first (and still most marvellous) still life ever (I would attach herein too).

Sorry for the poor resolution. Looking directly to one of Caravaggio paintings is one of the most amazing experience You may have.
Even a nowadays 3-D High Definition movie can hardly compete to take You in the scene!

Grat additions Caesar & everyone!!

Caesar
02-23-2010, 02:09 AM
You certainly should, dear Fly! When ules will finally come back home she has the right to find a big mess! (and I hope she's quite resisten to a number of stimuli) ...:D
