I think this marvel of economy and confident strokes, fully depicting the whole essence and likeness of the subject in the most natural epression and pose, is the most eloquent signature of a top class artist, dear Flyashy!:cool::):):):):) ... one word: exceptional; whatever else I possibly said and meant just before in my comment :D:p

This is blooming brilliant! I love your style.

You´ve definitely captured the essence of your subject here! I´ve been considering a work based on another guitarist, but I wasn´t too sure about how to handle the guitar. This gives me some ideas. Thanks for sharing!

And it's sexxy too.........as it should be, given the bad boy you are paying tribute to.
Saw a Led Zepplin tribute band last year that was tons of fun, but, unlike the work of that tribute band, I could easily enjoy your art every single day.

Oh, I do like my Led Zeppelin and it couldn't have been more fittingly done but by you Fly and your new Intuos 4! I can hear the classic, "Stairway to Heaven" resonate through your classic painting. You have such a wonderful and delightful artistic style that's so easy to love and embrace. Wonderfully done, Fly!

Too bad illustration as a profession has lost to photography.

I think this is awesome and reminds me of some of the years ago illustration styles I loved and tried to master. I could well have seen this as a cover of TV Guide with a little more finesse in the face.

Love what you did with the line. Just super. Hair's really good too, and it fits the overall style really nicely. The style says to me someone who has an artistic grasp of something such that they can deviate from a rendering with striking results. And who can argue with a portrait in which stands solo. All the color blends and dazzle in linear yet extraordinary ways. Not unlike Jimmy Page's style.

But this. . . dare I say, ROCKS!!!!! <----saying is about as old as my long-in-the-tooth self, hahah.

This is the kind of image I would have taped to the wall of my bedroom as a teen simply for the rebelious nature of it. From a perspective of lo these many years later it still rings true to both the times and the sheer talent of the man. In my opinion, and although he was and is a heralded guitarist, he never got the accolades he deserved for his amazing ability to innovate in a totally unique way on what was his chosen roots of the well established "blues style" of guitar work and to then push that "envelope" to the point where he created a new genre of music that resonates to this day.

As a person, he was not admirable; rock stars seldom are no matter how badly we may want to revere them. He did what he did: He played a mean axe the way no one had ever played it before and in the course of that he changed the course of classic rock history. He inspired the likes of Joe Satriani and Eddie Van Halen, et al.

He is the Caravaggio of his age ... except that he got rich.

So eloquently put Robert,
Of the musicians I can hero worship, Jimmy Page is right there on top. And I say musician, not guitarist, as for me the guitar was jsut his chosen instrument, but the way he weilded it made him a top notch and very very innovative musician!
Did you know that he was probably the only rock/blues musician to have used a Theramin live on stage, and so brilliantly too!!
